Yeah, I didn't like how the flips covered my whole back window when it was all the way up, which is what I'd have to do to put my sled in the bed. That's why I went with the roll up. Sled fits great and I can see out the back.

Truxedo I've definitely heard of. Prices aren't too bad, though I'd want one of the low-profile ones.

    Just stumbled upon this

I've got a Truxedo trifold that I run on the Ram during the winter. It's pretty watertight, folds easy regardless of temp. The downside is that there's always at least 1/3 of it on the bed, but if you need the extra space taking it off takes all of 2 minutes.

I've been so back and forth on a tonneau cover the past couple years I gave up. When I was looking I leaned toward a trifold. I just want something that will hold up well to snow and

It doesn't have the two little poles that hold it up tight to the window?

I just want to keep snow out of the bed. We get a lot of that crap too...
Same here! That looks pretty legit and pretty cheap!

Nope. Just two clamps at the front and 2 at the rear, and when you fold it up it clips to a couple of side-squeeze plastic clip things.

Edit- I take that back, it's not a Truxedo, it's an Extang. Trifecta or something like that

I already had one on the wrecked F250 that will transfer over. It's a Diamondback bed cover, so not a traditional tonneau. It's diamond plate and I have a bike rack mounted to it. It's lockable and you can actually stand on it, it's pretty stout and I have the light duty version. I wouldn't recommend buying it unless you're sure you need/want something like that. For my use, I love it.

I had a Bakflip VP on my F150 and really liked it. It has a vinyl top so it's pretty waterproof. I sold it when I went to a cap but there was nothing wrong with the tonneau. Same issue Jethro mentioned, sometimes it would freeze shut. You also had to open the back every time you closed the tail gate but, with the tailgate closed and locked, things in the bed were secure. It's not a tonneau you can just cut through with a utility knife.
Gator has a pretty good reputation, from what I've seen. Access is nice also.

I may go with the Gator. Its good for the price point I need right now.

That Diamondback cover is cool looking. Definitely looks stout. Does it stow away for hauling things? Or do you have to remove it before doing anything?

I'd eventually like to add bed bars and mount my RTT on it for wheeling adventures towing the crawler.

There are a few different versions of the Diamondback cover. Mine is the SE, so it's 'light duty' meaning it's only rated for 400 lbs. The front and back open on hinges and can fold over 180 degrees onto the other side, or you can completely remove the front and back panels individually in about 30 seconds without any tools. The panels are light and easily managed by one person. The center section is held in place by 4 clamps so a couple minutes with a wrench and you can completely remove the entire cover if you ever need to.
There's an HD version of mine as well that's rated to haul 1,600 lbs. It's basically built to have 2 ATV's loaded on top of it. Then, there are other options that have different door configurations with how they open. For an RTT, you'd likely want the SE or HD.

    That sounds really awesome actually!

I'd probably go for building something like this:

    Which bird?
Wild Turkey started September 16th, Grouse/pheasant starts tomorrow, Woodcock/Goose/Duck season starts October 1st.

Grouse/pheasant is what I'm talking about, that's my favorite. Gonna do a cast and blast next weekend I think.

I liked the Extang Trifecta I had on my Tacoma.

I cheaped out and bought a TonnoPro tri-fold for my F-150. Same design as the Extang, but the fabric isn't as good and the spring clips to mount it are more difficult to use. I do think the savings justifies it, but I might spring for the Extang next time.

I'll never do a roll up tonneau again unless I move south. Worthless in the winter without a garage. Every single roll freezes.
