So what's the difference between static and dynamic stretching? And what stretches are usually your go-to? I ran cross country and track back in high school, fast forward five years later and I'm starting to hit the trails again, chasing that dream of getting my mile time back to where it was lol. Still have no idea how to best stretch. Even when I was running I always was pushing my luck for getting cramps or pulling something.

Not a flex but I thought this was a cool looking photo progression my phone made of a log clean and press video.
Camera placement makes me think you were pushing that bicep up with your wrist lol

Since we're talking about the past now... Here's 9 years ago fresh out of BMT lol I was still 202lbs but had like zero body fat from running so much. Still had 19in arms though, thanks genetics!

Static stretching can pre-fatigue muscles which will make you more prone to injury. Plus static stretching the goal is eliciting the golgi tendon reflex to relax muscle groups, thats not the goal pre-exercise. It can reduce strength and stability.

I stretch where I know I need to. My hips, hamstrings, and glutes get tight so I focus on stretches that hit these areas.
I like to do 90-120 second holds on my stretches.

I’m also a yoga fan and do a lot of my general flexibility work there.

I do primarily warm ups and not any dynamic stretching. The only time I do dynamic stretching is pre dead lift, especially before RDLs and thats to loosen up the hamstrings.

My Fav stretches are seated hamstring stretch, butterflies, advanced piriformis stretch, and box calf stretches

Intermittent Fasting Day 2, Hour 16:15:00

An interesting observation this morning. About 9:30am I realized that I had not drank 75% of my 2nd cup of coffee this morning. I was getting no ques to continue drinking it.

I think thats pretty cool. Lets see if that trend continues.

I wasn't implying that everyone who weighs 190 is chubby. I was saying myself weighing at 190, I looked/felt chubby especially after being used to in the 160 range. I went to a ninja warriors gym with @ThunderCookies a few months ago and I just felt heavy and unathletic and that's kind of where I decided to start my cut.

True, I remember writing that. It was yesterday.

Thats kinda what denouncing carbs means, literally means.

Not true. I'm very strong and I'm basically keto. Lots of other very strong people out there that are keto. You can cheat and load carbs prior to your workout and then eat keto the rest of the day. Keto helps with cuts because you process fat like a champ, and it helps you with endurance sports, it helps you cognitively because your brain adjusts to ketones and thus is no longer dependent on glucose, and you lift really heavy as a keto. You can get the benefits of keto without being keto by simply increasing fat and lowering carbs. I still eat pie and pizza, but not very often. You do you.

    I say both.

    I did.

You didn’t say denounce carbs like the guy can’t ever eat a grilled cheese ever again.

Carbs just don’t need to be a primary staple.

    Static stretching is....

    Dynamic stretching is.....

Static is classic stretch and hols techniques like trying to touch your toes. Without warm muscles your tendons and muscles will resist, and people and up lunging into stretches to get the stretch, and then hold on the stretch under tension - it can cause tearing in the very stupid. Obviously, most folks stop as soon as resistance is reached, which does nothing. You gotta get warm first. Dynamic stretching is like doing warm-up sets. You go through the motions of exercise but not hard enough to exercise, get some blood into the muscles to loosen them up a bit, and now you statically stretch or get on with your workout.

I literally said denounce carbs, but was sarcastic and didn't give any clarification other than a picture of KFC double down. Thats pretty open for interpretation.
