I know how much better you Must feel. I went from 220 to 160 last year and felt like a brand new man.

I don’t think eating a fuck ton of carbs and then eating no carbs later in the day counts as keto dude. Most studies show the body doesn’t enter a ketosis state until a few days of eating low/no carb.

I often get the "oh you're tall! That must be so nice, I wish I was that tall/big"

Don't get me wrong it's nice, but I have days where I want to be 5'9" 170lbs, it's so much more feasible to be that size. Plus I would be able to look normal on a motorcycle, which is probably what bugs me the most about being large lol

While riding I was once described by a friend as looking like "an ape fucking a football"...

Everything you said is pretty much everyone’s reasons for struggling to change their diet. The toughest part is changing your habits... but its all doable.

What irks me is more language. @weldertaco will get on me for being too literal but words matter. Saying you can’t do something when you are choosing not to does have an impact in behavior. It seems to get you in this mind set that you are out of control when you are in fact in control. That mindset I think is critical to success or failure.
We’ve all heard “believe you can and you are halfway there”.

The language you chose to address challenges will overshadow your successes or failure.

And this isn’t me arguing or beating up on you, I find this stuff interesting to discuss.

We are all adults and can chose to live our lives however we chose. But I think it is important for us to recognize choice over uncontrollable influences.

I also feel the need to say this:
There are people out there with medical conditions or allergies that cannot part take in certain food items. Their life is not lacking because they can’t eat ice cream with their kids.
Lack of eating particular foods does not result in a lesser quality of life.

I think you as many others who have lost quite a bit of weight can say you probably have a better quality of life than you did 20, 30, 40lbs ago. You aren’t less happy of a person as a result of your caloric restriction.

My overall point is, resistance is futile. You cannot want change in your life (a different physique) but at the same time be resistant to trying different methods. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result.

Again not ripping in anyone but just discussing the need to maintaining that willingness to adapt and change as your goals adapt and change.

Amen to that. Everyone here has demonstrated completely legit reasons as to why they get a couple hours of sleep. etc etc. Its all hard. Do what you can. I assume that most folks on here are trying to improve, and I find it surprising that many resist change, but want different results.

Thats fine... but you can’t bicep curl away from diabetes.
As long as you recognize that, thats fine.

What you consume has an impact on your health regardless of BF% or weight.

Thats true for the first time going keto, 100%. Your body needs times and a pretty strong stimulus to increase the enzymes necessary to break down fats efficiently. Its pretty easy to maintain once you are there. However, it does take a couple months to fully settle into it. I do cheat a little in that I intermittent fast daily, so it ensures I stay keto. The carb thing is based on your physiology. I have no issues eating half a donut and staying keto. But if I did it every day, or ate a whole donut, I'd probably get out of ketosis, and that would make my fasting a bit miserable.

I'm not sure why you two are so hung up on this. What I'm doing is working for me. I'm making progress. I'm eating the foods I like, when I like to eat them and getting closer to my goal. Why in the world would I not eat the foods I want and limit myself to when I can eat them?

Eating my oats. Then going to the gym. :)
