I have no idea what this cable is for?

The other picture next to AC compressor looks to be a bolt for a bracket thats sitting right next to it?

I had my engine replaced a while back and I'm assuming these things never found their new home. Those guys left plenty of loose ends but the two pictured in this post have eluded me for a couple of years now. I sure wish other people would work on my things with the same respect that I do.

Cable look like it goes to the heater control valve

Bracket not bolted in look like the hard transmission line to the radiator, if it's an automatic. The bolt seem to be right behind the bracket too.

    My wild guess

The bottom is just a stabilizer bracket that bolts to the engine but I'm not sure where. Has to be close if not that bolt that it sits in front of.

Would you believe me if I said that I don’t have a heater control valve at all? Here are some pictures. I’m disassembled for painting inside of the engine compartment right now, but there wasn’t a valve there when I started breaking everything down. There’s a bolt hole there for where you would mount the valve pretty close to that ground location that’s visible in your picture. I wonder if I ever had the valve at all? Seems like there should have been one at some time because the cable is there. Surely the factory wouldn’t install the component with no intention of using it.

Edit: that butt splice down there is a little bothersome too.

How do you turn the Ac/heat off and on? Strange.

looks like they bypassed the control valve and it's direct into the heater core

I just use the controls like normal. Everything works ok. My AC isn’t as cold as it used to be but I’m unsure if this would affect that at all? I wonder if I should look into setting up correctly? Are there benefits or drawbacks to the correct setup versus the way mine is laid out?

What I would do is mark where that line is, and move the dial to hot and see if it moves, then to cold and check again. They may have taken it off for some reason which would mean the heat is always on. if so, hit a boneyard and grab one.

yeah, that part permits the flow of coolant for heat/cool to the core. you're set as always hot/warm

I’ll give y'alls suggestions a try tomorrow and report back. I get AC but it’s not ice cold as it should be. I guess that’s because there’s some heat dumping into it.

I had just decided it was time for a big AC refresh job but hopefully this will be a much cheaper solution. No telling what else I will find wrong from this engine swap over the next few years. they may have just bumped it and broken it while pulling or reinstalling the motor... guess that’s why you shouldn't hire a guy with spiderwebs tattooed in his ear holes.
