I had a hidden winch mount and a 10k Smittybilt on the factory Fox. I lost a small amount of height with the additional weight (guessing it was about 100 pounds). If you added a small top spacer you could regain it without an issue. If you went with anything other than a hidden mount or a Slimline I’d replace the suspension. I ended up with Fox 2.5’s w/650 # springs, Total Chaos UCA’s, 33’s and a Demello low profile front bumper. I also have full skids and sliders though so I’m riding on a lot of weight.

If you decide to upgrade the suspension call Erick at @state48overland. He’s super knowledgeable and you’ll get some of the best customer service you’ve ever received.

Contacted a local 4x4 shop that specializes in suspension work and my local Toyota dealership that sells Tacomas with spacers from the lot, both confirmed that no modifications to the bumpstops would be needed for a 1/2" top plate on a trd pro.

A 1/2" flat shim. 0 driveline vibrations, feels stock. Thanks! I like them better than my ko2s

Went wheeling on my "not real suspension" yesterday, handled like a champ.

Hey Foozer sorry to bump your old thread. Was thinking of doing a 1/4” or 1/2 top place myself when I replace the stock wranglers for some 265/75/16’s. You still liking the ride quality and functionality of this setup? Did it settle at all in the front? And do you still maintain a little rake? Definitely not going to compress those fox springs and would like to know what you think overall about your set up. Thanks

Yeah I really like my setup, I have a 1/2" top plate in the front and a 1/2" shim in the back. I have probably 3/4" of rake, though I haven't measure it. I think it looks perfect. The front settled a little bit, but not a ton.

As far as ride quality, literally feels exactly the same. I'm pretty ocd and would have noticed. I've taken it wheeling a few times for camping and stuff and the truck handled great. On-road and off-road I haven't noticed any difference.

Sup brotha are you still liking that top plate spacer and the rear 1/2 block? Thinking about a small top plate lift and something in the rear to maintain a small rake. Looking at 265/75/16 cooper st maxx’s

Yeah I love the 1/2" plate in front with the 1/2 shim in back. I've taken it on some light wheeling/camping trips and I havent noticed any difference from stock performance. Definitely recommend if you want a subtle increase from stock

Thanks, and do you know if I can go even smaller like maybe a 3/8? Also are those Nitto’s your running and what size are they?
