    i want to replace my struts and shocks. I have a 99’ tacoma 2 wd on 16x8.5 don’t remember what the tread wall height is but it’s a low profile tire. I want a smoother ride considering I don’t take my truck off road. Any recommendations. And I can’t remember if struts are in the front and shocks are in the back. Vice versa

    2.4 2wd (5 lug) has shocks front and back. I don't have a recommendation on what to get but I can recommend don't get KYB Gas-a-just - they're pretty firm and won't give you that smooth ride you're looking for.

    Those were the exact shocks I almost pulled the trigger on. Everyone says they are amazing

    They're good if you like firm. On the freeway, it's great. There's no sway, the truck feels well planted. On the street, it's a tad harsher than I'd prefer a stock truck to be. I feel like they'd be perfect for a truck that was lowered because you would want it stiffer so you're not hitting your bumpstops all the time.

    full disclaimer - the rest of my suspension is original with 190k miles so all the rubber is surely shot, ball joints and tie rods are probably shot too. That contributes to my crappy ride...

    the 4x4's don't have struts either. They're coilovers up front.

    Do you have a 5 lug or a 6 lug 2wd?? I can't really tell from your avatar pic.

    Name is "2.4 on 8.5 wides" so my guess is 5 lug.

    that's actually a good point too!

    Yeah, that's quite the name... Would be a shame if he ever gets new wheels, he'd have to change his name, lol

    I’ve got 98k on mine and I’m pretty sure it’s all stock. I don’t drive like an f1 driver (all the time) but there’s a lot of bumps and pit holes in town and I want something that will make that a little smoother

    @mjbtaco
    Get his kit, idk if they offer coilovers that are meant for a smooth ride.
