I camped that spot a couple years ago. Pretty cool. I want to bring a bike out that way. Are tags required?

I do have a tag, as did the rest of us. I’m not sure if you need them there or not. I love the “Slick Rock” trail, motorcycle nirvana. Chicken Corners would have been a Breeze in the Tacoma. Maybe would have needed 4wd once.

met these TW members on Fins and Things and Hell’s Revenge. Those were a real challenge for the Tacoma IMO, at least with me at the wheel.

Looks really good man, are those regular 18/21's with dual sport tires? I'm rocking the 17's, but changing back and forth is a pain in the ass, probably going to actually sell the SM 17's and just put dual sports on my stocks until I can locate some 19's - best of both worlds.

Those are hardcore trails for any truck really IMO, especially one that is driven there. Most people trailer theirs and I did it on a RAZOR (very easy). Still, one trip there convinced me to move in a few years when I retire from the Army. 4x4/dirtbike all summer and snowboard all winter, no question really.

Fins and things and hell's are NOT hard lol. But difficulty is in the eye of the beholder and based off your build obviously.

Actually, the sand made it harder on the dual-sport bikes than some places. My wife dumped her bike a couple times in the straight loose sand. More like dust 3werks ahi. The sand would be a cake walk in the Tacoma. I’m pretty much certain my stock Tacoma OR would have approach and departure angle limitations in that trail.

This wasn’t the steepest approach. If you have driven that trail with your stock truck, I’d like to know if you managed without scraping. A wrangler certainly wouldn’t have an issue.

I rode steel bender last year, in the dark.

I mean if we are talking stock trucks that’s a whole different animal. But those trails are meh on a standard build of 33’s and rear locker and even more so for someone like me double locked on 35’s.

No doubt. These guys had quite a lot of lift and were dragging the hitch sliders coming off stuff. It was fun watching particularly from the perspective of a new Tacoma owner. They used the crawl control once and the locker another time I watched, the truck just spun on the rock without. I thought they were stock trucks but the fellow told me they had 6” of lift? I can’t remember. My buddy who is into 4wd said the same, “that’s a beginner trail”. I’m fairly certain my stock DC OR SB would not make that without damage. Not all of us want to make our trucks into rock crawlers. I’m getting up there some in years in my mid 60s and loading a bike into my truck bed without help is not a lot of fun as it sits.

On the bikes, we barely have to slow down for those rocks. With out a doubt a beginner trail for an experienced rider. A total trap for a newer rider on a big adventure bike. In any event, a bunch of fun.

I really enjoyed talking to the Tacoma drivers, they had there camping gear and we going a lot of places. They seemed to drive well. With out a doubt, they were very nice people who I was happy to share trails with.

https://youtu.be/jZiyKCtJ2VASteel bender before dark. We underestimated how long the 4wheeler would take. Started the trail at 3:30 in the afternoon. Would have been in town for dinner with just the bikes. I was on my KTM. My buddy rode his DR650 which is a big bike for the trail. My Tacoma? No way. I’m sure a modified one would do it. Doubt it would still be a great all around vehicle though.
