The Production Key Grip on the show I’m working for asked me to build a dolly track rack for his 48’ trailer so that he can organize his track nicely and get it in and out of his truck more easily so I built him a rack. Stands upright and gets lag bolted to the wall through some tabs I made

Then I had to whip up a couple of boom lift leveling block carts for some leveling blocks we built. 2 giant leveling blocks sit marrying each other and go on each cart.

Then the boss asked me to whip up a set of stairs for our trailer so we can use them at the lift gate and keep the gate half way down so we don’t have to go up and down all the time haha

Was rubbing the bottom of my bumper a tiny bit at full stuff with the new 35s. Rather than just leave it be or chop off a little, I went a little further.

Here is that rack all finished up that I built for my boss to go on his truck and store his dolly track. Also added some pipe holders on the outside so he could hold 8 pieces of each size. 12’,10’, 8’, 6’, 4’, 2’. We use a lot of aluminum pipe to rig things so we always have tons of it on the truck.

If that's what I'm thinking the it's more of a solder than anything else. Usually like 75% zinc and 15% aluminum or so. Works fine for certain applications but not a structural application. Won't be as strong as a real weld or brazing it it'll work

The thing with using these is getting what your trying to fix so very clean!!

Not getting things clean enough it does not flow very well causing users to get frustrated !!

Then since Aluminum is a great heat sink and a propane torch is not a great heat source.

When it is a emergency it might get you long enough to repair or replace in a more long term fix

I have some, bought it at a trade show, the demo guy did a great job selling it.

In practice it was finicky to do for the reasons stated above. Also I hear that a SS brush should be used to clean the metal( i was using the crappy brush I always use to clean slag off my welds, so that might have impacted my experience )

What I found tricky was if I wanted to use this twice in a close space ( say sticking two tabs close together ) that I could get one to stick, but when heating up the metal for the 2nd tab the first one would "melt" and fall over. Again, YMMV.

when I did get it to work, it did seem strong enough for what I was doing, ( I was fixing a back rest for a camping chair )

On your next batch. Take 2"x 2" section out of the 90 degree corner. I realize you will have to tell engineer the corner, but then you have access to get in to weld the corner without removing the square. And the indexing tabs on the fireball squares is awesome. Incorporate that into your squares somehow.
Just a FYI, not being a douchebag.

Recently bought a set of sliders ( highly discounted) due to the poor fabrication and immense amount of porosity present. I’m gonna hopefully add step by step pictures of how to properly fix so that you can wheel comfortably.

Shielding gas? What’s that? I thought the holes in the weld was good weight reduction. :homer:
