New 2019 on Lot since 3.19

Hello All - Can you think of any issues with leasing a vehicle that's been sitting on the lot for 6 months? and it has 500 miles from a dealer trade. good side it has options i want and good lease payment

 

Just buy it.

 

Perhaps this truck has been waiting for the right person to come along and take possession?

 

No problem whatsoever - my wife's CRV was a 2014 leftover that we bought in Feb 2015. Not a lick of trouble with it.

Maybe ask for a new battery since they don't like sitting unused.

 

It's fine either way, but a less isn't a long term commitment, the warranty most likely is as long as the lease.

I just think leasing sucks from a personal financial POV. Lay out the money and you don't own a vehicle with great resale value. THEN OK you can buy after lease........for big $. Pay cash or if you must finance for the lowest rate possible and pay off early.

 

Not everyone looks at a vehicle the same. Me for instance, a vehicle is a luxury that takes my boat back and fourth to the lake or bay and runs to WaWa to get coffee. Every few years, I want a new gadget, literally like a cell phone so I pick up a new truck.

We lease many services in life, TV, Phone, even music. Why buy something that depreciates?

 

I personally haven't lost money on a toyota yet. Eespecially if you don't drive much and keep the miles down you would be far better off (in my opinion) buying over leasing. But to each their own, Good luck with what ever you decide.

There are many reasons one leases cars. It makes sense in a lot of situations. That said...

This is Tacomaworld, so if you lease a truck, you’re a poor, imbecilic fool, with a Beacon score sub 300. Any real man with a brain who isn’t a pauper would just buy the vehicle outright.

 

Back to the original question, nothing wrong with a six month old truck. The warranty starts and runs in a lease, no differently than a purchase. Warranties start ticking the clock as soon as you take possession.
If it’s been in the lot for 6 months, they will move it for nothing. You should be able to secure a great deal as it has sat there for far too long and is eating up valuable real estate.

 

Don’t forget... it must be a TRD Off Road 4x4 or TRD PRO manual. No sport, no 2wd, no automatics allowed.

As for the truck there since March... see if they will make you a super deal on it. I’d also make sure it drives ok, has no bodywork, and everything else seems up and up. These trucks don’t normally site that long...

My dealer told me the buyout cost on the Tacoma is sky high. Be warned ahead of time.

 

This is the biggest load of crap I have ever read. I have leased a lot of vehicles. The entire time a vehicle is under lease, it is also covered under warranty. They have to be able to take the vehicle back at the end of the lease. The manufacturer doesn’t want a broke down jalopy when you bring it back.

It depends on many factors. How much did you put down? How much were your lease payments? What was the negotiated cost of the vehicle. He is some easy math, and the basics of how a lease works.

Down payment and total of all lease payments $600
Residual (buyout) $400

Leasing is just another way for the dealer/manufacturer to move a vehicle. The math above isn’t exact, but it’s pretty close. Most people don’t understand how leasing works, and that there are some upsides to it, if you’re financially capable. It also makes me laugh that on this forum leasing is looked at like a poor/no credit decision to get what you want. You can purchase a Tacoma with a credit score of what, 600? Most leases you have to have a credit score of 740 or above to qualify for the lease.

The amount of disinformation here is appalling.

Unless you have a business and can take advantage of the IRS depreciation rules, stay away.

 

Leasing makes sense if your a new ride every 3 years type of person, or business. Truck on the lot for 6 months, should give you some room to negotiate.

 

This is the exact reason leasing is attractive with Tacomas, you pay the inequity. If the buyout is expensive vs the selling price, the in-between (or the inequity) is cheap, making lease payments cheap.
