Found a narrow trail that larger vehicles would have had issues (or lots of scratches) dealing with. Mah Taco saved us about a 0.2 mile hike (yellow line), one way, to the traverse site (probably at least 20-30min hike each way. (Two tripods, gun, survey rod, lath bag, + tools has a way of slowing you down.) Doesn't seem like much... but with slopes approaching 40% and carrying all the survey gear, finding a two track that enabled us to drive (magenta line) to the start of the traverse (red line) was a blessing. Humping the traverse was no picnic... 36% average slope -- 230ft elevation gain in 630ft, and having to cut line in many places, staking the property line was enough work.

This would have been the hike down from the beginning of the traverse and back up to the road/trail where we had parked in the past. I swear... it's steeper than the picture looks...

I’m at Landlocked Ales after several hours of Lyft driving. I don’t hang out here often since I live in Arvada. Need to put plates on the taco pronto.

I still need to do my front diff but I know the plugs can be a pain in the anus. My old 05 was so bad that the fill plug rounded off when I kicked the breaker bar to remove the damn thing. I guess you haven’t wrenched enough if you never yelled and threw tools lol.

Toyota almost purposely designed those stupid front diff plugs to be a pain in the ass. I get pissed just thinking about doing that terrible project.

    slaughterhouse gulch :)
    https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/463-slaughterhouse-gulch

I was hoping to get to Shoot some targets but the huge “no shooting” sign at the beginning of the trail kept me from getting them out. This was the only area that had bright yellow aspens that I could find this early on along 285 today.
