So I checked the bump stop and it was all the way forward with space between it and the actuator when power is being applied. I removed the entire assembly and put a washer on each bolt then reinstalled. This pushed the assembly away from the release and eliminated any play before the actuator engages the release. Unfortunately this did not help.

I decided to test with the tailgate down and manually pushing the lock in on each side then trying the opener to see if it would release. The first few times it actually released the lock (first video). I then realized the lock will stop and hold in the half way position and I wasn't pushing it all the way down. I then pushed the lock down so it was locked in the position as if the tailgate were actually closed. Once it was fully locked the actuator would not release it like it did in the half way position (second video). There are no issues manually dropping the tailgate using the handle.

It just seems like the actuator doesn't have enough power to release the lock. This is a 4 month old truck that hasn't had the tailgate opened much. Could it be that things are just really tight such that the actuator can't open it? Spit balling at this point.

ok, just wanted to comment on how awesome this plug and play lock kit is! im pretty much a dumb dumb when it comes to wiring installs and i handled this in about an hour! the hardest part was committing to the work. the plugs between the tailgate gave me a little fuss, but if you stare at them long enough the answer emerges from the darkness. wiring the truck up the passenger side and zip tieing along the way, being sure to pull the wire somewhat taut and not zip tying too tight were key. easy peasy, super recommended for the convenience and cool factor. wtf was toyota thinking not including this in the first place?!

Did you attempt the movement that @tacodnr suggested on forward or backward? See we first that that was the case until DSIM went to a actuator that has an even less rating that pulls only like 10 lbs vs 13lbs that this one does. So I'm not so sure that is the case as this one is more powerful than that one. He wasn't able to get this one to work on his truck for some reason. We weren't able to understand why either. However, in his case, it wouldn't work for him just in the regular position either. I would suggest attempting what @tacodnr has suggested

Yes I drilled a new set of holes 1/4 inch closer to the latch per @tacodnr. At this point the actuator has been in 3 positions...further from the latch/original position/closer to the latch. The actuator has free motion in and out when manually moving it at the actuator as well as using the tailgates handle.

I'm having the exact same issue. I even purchased a different actuator and tried to change the position a bit. I'm going to work on it a bit tomorrow to see if I can make any progress.

Maybe I missed it, is it possible to unlock with one click like the doors, or do you have to use 3x?

3 clicks is to have the tail gate open and drop down. It unlocks with your doors on one click.

Is it possible to have the tailgate drop feature added to the pop lock system. I have had the pop lock system in my 17 for a couple years now but love the idea of adding the auto drop.

Yes. This is determined with the head unit. Or you can always ask me for the harness to connect it to the drivers side if you wish.

This depends on the headunit. Most the time it will unlock on the second click with the passenger doors. First click is drivers door.

Yes. This definitely possible. The popnlock system does work with my PNP harness and it does work with my BNO Package. However, my system is a lot quieter than the popnlock system so I have been told by a few customers that have had both. I do not know by person experience.

You need to program the door lock option to unlock both doors with 1x click. Then tailgate will open the same.

I had the Pop N Lock installed on my truck for about 2 years and since Buying the add ons for the Bolt and Open would have only cost slightly less, i bought the Full kit to change out the entire harness. After installing the new Bolt and Lock, I noticed her actuator was quieter and produced less noise then the Pop N Lock actuator. Her actuator is slightly smaller and requires less moving parts that echos in the tailgate.
