    I'd much prefer being a bit further away.
    A .22 rifle fits the bill.
    Not so loud that it upsets the little old lady next door. :)

    I've had skunks in the house a few times.
    They got in the cat door to eat the cat food.
    I gently herded them out with a big cardboard shield.
    They never sprayed either.

    Phooey. Me, I'd let 'em go.
    Now groundhogs, OTOH...:mad:

    Years ago at a different job working nights, we had an outside area we sat at during breaks. A skunk would come up and people would throw chips and stuff down for it to eat. My boss offered me $100 to pick up the skunk. I had to think about that one for awhile. Finally decided the wrath from my wife when I got home was not worth the money. I know, I'm a puss.

    I've seen him do it. He talks to them in a low soothing voice and pets them. Then picks them up.
    He claims he's only been sprayed once.
