Hi everyone, New to the forum here. I’m thinking about buying a new 2020 TRD PRO Tacoma. I test drove one yesterday and I like it. It reminds me a lot of my previous lifted Dakota I had when I was younger. I’ve missed it ever since I sold it.

I love the looks of the new TRD Pro, however there are many off-roading features that I probably will not use very often or at all. Such as the crawl control. Mostly it will be concrete driving. I live in Nebraska, so it gets very snowy here. I like the heated leather, cameras, led lights and most of the other features. Very surprised it doesn’t have a slightly different power plant than the rest. But it’s still ok.

So I’m just on the fence about spending the extra money on the pro vs the sport or off road. Is the pro really worth the extra cheddar?

I’m heading out of town on Tuesday for a week, so I’m going to think about it while I’m gone.

The sticker is $48,663. Any idea what a decent price I could get?

Ive also been reading a lot about shifting issues. Is it really as bad as I’ve been reading?

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and my thoughts...

    Thanks!

I would get the Sport and add katskin leather with heaters. The Pro generally sell at MSRP or more.

Test driving the specific truck you plan to buy under your everyday conditions will be how you should decide.

I'm sure most PRO owners think so. As well as the accountants at Toyota. Me, not so much. It's a gussied up trim package with a dose of OE parts combined in one unit. Just not my cup of tea, even if I wanted a 4wd.

Always a good plan. Purchase in the lust of the moment, especially big ones, often result in regret.

    Good luck

    Welcome to TW!

Well I’d start with the fact that you’re not planning on utilizing the Pro to it’s full potential off road so with that regard I personal wouldn’t spend the money for the extra goodies if I’m not planning on useing them. The TRD typically has more stuff then the normal person uses anyway. I’m not sure what the going rate for a Limited is but that might fit your lifestyle a little better.

Hope you find what your looking for!

    Like, so many.
You should definitely check out a Sport with 4wd and AT tires. I’m pretty sure you can option leather seats in those now. Dropping in a Pro grille is easy peasy.

    Thanks for the warm welcome!
    To answer your question, Jeff.
My Dakota had a mild lift kit, what with black trim. The pro was white as well with all the black trim and wheels, so it just kind of reminded me of how much I liked the looks of it.
