So which rack did you go with, and what did it cost you in total with the handles and everything?

Thanks i’ve been looking at going on with one of these.

 

I just ordered the bravo for the cab and cap! So far these guys have been nothing sort of amazing to work with. Im running a fairly uncommon 40" lightbar (made for emergency response lighting not offroading) Micah suggested having it sent to them so they would just custom mount it in the front fairing. also doing some custom recessed lights for response and scene lighting. If their product is anywhere near as awesome as their customer service I'm sure ill be blown away!

 

Does anyone have the sunroof mod dimensions. I am putting mine together tonight but haven’t received them.

Uptop sent me L brackets and some nuts and bolts.
You can get the kit from them. Or piece it together from 8020.net

 

Took a long lunch and bolted this bad boy up today...nice quality stuff. (Hardest part was cutting the gutter trim as I didn't have a punch...tried drilling with a 3/4 forstner bit, but it has an aluminum stiffener in it...good old utility knife and some diligence.

Still have the sunroof and #7 bar, the handles and lights to go, but...yah baby this thing is nice! MGM color match on the amour.

Looks fantastic and has really helped me decide that I want one for sure.

Such a shame though that they don't offer black hardware to go with these racks as maybe a no-cost swap out option. Nice subdued color on the truck and rack, then suddenly.... BLING! Silver hardware. @Doozy4212 you guys ever considered this? I know, I know... I'm sure it would be fairly simple to go out and purchase some replacement hardware on our own dime. But given the cost of the racks, it's just one of those tiny details/options to make an amazing product even better, possibly?

 

Heard it many times before but the fact of the matter is black, stainless hardware is nearly impossible to find. Powdercoat and paint chip. Zinc will rust, so what is left? Well you can find black stainless, but it's nearly three times the cost and the options are slim.

We want it just as bad as you and everyone else but i refuse to sacrifice quality and strength for looks.

 

And to be 100% honest, on this truck the stainless looks good, its in his faux bolts on flairs, roof rack, chrome tube steps....it plays well together. On a fully murdered truck maybe not so much.

Trust me, i hear ya man, I'd love to find a good black option

You're welcome! Trust me it's a battle as old as upTOP has been around, but we claim to be the strongest, not the best looking, but we look pretty damn good too

 

Conference call today meant I lashed up the handles. Ten minutes later vadaboom they look great!

BTW I like a little shine mixed in. It helps to draw out the cool stuff. Next time I weave the handles I may use a color paracord.

 

That’s what I did. My truck is black with red emblems. The only thing shiny on my truck are the damn lug nuts. So instead of using the black para cord that came with the handles I used some red/black that I had left over when I did my grab handles inside.

 

Stainless doesn’t hold paint well. But, if you don’t mind doing it yearly you could paint them. Sand them dull and prime with primer specifically for stainless. Let the primer cure 72 hours or more. Then light coats of oil based exterior with a small brush.

 

Sounds like a lot of work. Lol. I think it looks good the way it is. Now I have shiny on bottom and top.

 

Ok. Yes a repost of sorts. If anyone is on the fence about these racks, pull the trigger.

Today (day 1) I did a few errands:

1. Town Hall to pay bill...two comrades from the FD follow me out and have an orgasm over this rack.
2. 7-11 for coffee...cashier dude leaves his post to come to door and verbally drool.
3. Gas station...nice mom strikes up conversation about how her husband would absolutely die to have my Taco especially the racks and roll bar. She takes pics and texts him for an on the spot response of “fuck yah”. (I gave her the url).
