Square or Round Sliders.

Well I have to get on the ball soon and build my Sliders. The money is talking right now and is a big factor.

2" Square tubing will be easy for me and I can do everything in my shop. It will also somewhat match my rear bumper.

With the 1.75" or 2" round tubung I could do all of the measurement and welding but would have to pay a local fab shop for the bending and notching. The fab shop would have a reasonable charge of about $75-$100.

i know a few people with square they like them, all really depends on you man really. but what really matters is wall thickness, with 1 3/4" X .120 round tubing gets bent really easy on rocks, ask me how i know

 

I have square. There is a lot of pictures in my gallery. They are extremely strong. I've jacked up the whole side of the truck by the outer rail and I could not measure any flex.

 

What wall thickness are they?

 

Inner legs and main beam= 2"x2"x3/16"
Outer legs and secondary beam= 1.5"x1.5"x(I think 7 gauge) Whichever is about 3/16". It was the thickest wall the steel supply place had available on 1.5" square tube.

 

how much did you spend on the steel..?

 

thankis for the reply. I think that is goint to be the route I'll take. probably just get a 2" x 2" x 20' Tube and go from there. I think I still have some 1/4" plate left over from my bumber. I ain't affaid of no scrap.

The 2" tube came in a 20' stick. It was about $55. The 1.5" tube came in a 24' stick. It was also about $55. Used scrap for brackets and gussets. Total cost about $110.

 

Nice job on the sliders. Square looks just fine to me and besides the purpose is to protect the truck and not look pretty unless you are building a mall cruiser.

Another vote for square... I had a set of Demello's on my 96 tacoma. They're also great for using as a step and nice to jack the truck up with.

 

i love them, they make great steps, i can reach so much more stuff
in my tool box and bed now. i could not find hardly any pictures of them
on a truck. i finally found some on a truck that was for sale doing a google search. when i got them on, i decided i would stick a bunch of
pictures of them up so people could see what they look like.

 

I don't have any up-close pictures of them on my 96.... but yeah, they're awesome. I was considering putting them on my 07, but I don't wheel just didn't need them.
