I am at a crossroads with tires. Its time to replace the Toyo Open Country HT's. I had the Falken Wildpeaks at3 but were too loud! I want to go with an AT tire but I am hesitant because of the noise associated with AT's.
I hear the General Grabber AT2 or ATx are a good choice and they have a $100 rebate right now.
Any suggestions for a QUIET AT tire?

If you don't need to drive off road, and want a quite tire, just buy street tires. There are many good choices.

I LOVE my general AT2's. They have performed amazingly. Grips like a mofo. Very quiet for an AT and wears like iron. I have them in 235/85r16 load E. Plan on replacing them with the ATX's when they wear out.

I got a retarded amount of miles on my AT2s. They was loud and lower mileage compared to the HTSs, but worked well for me.

Michelin LTX A/T 2s are a great all around tire and quiet and steer straight - on the end of my second set and after about 55k they still have lots of tread but get a little slippery on take offs and in heavy rain. Ran them 18,000 miles across the US from FL into AK and back on all road conditions and off-road. Throw some gravel off road. Look at Tire Rack ratings for full info. Run 265/70r16s in P metric at 35 psi so good flex and bump handling, believe SL rated so 44 max (too hard at max). Tow and carry loads well too. About $200 per tire but if smooth, quiet, and good off road that's the one. Others look more aggressive and are louder and dig better but …………..you decide. Just another opinion for you.

I got ~ 70000 out of the AT2 they are fantastic

The Cooper is quieter and lighter. And was also cheaper when I bought. I did see a slight increase in mpg from the switch as well

Mine were loud as heck. I'll never by AT2s again. Background info is they were put on a new 2017 Tacoma with 90 miles on it and taken off with less than 10k on the truck when I gave them to a high school kid. I have ran super swampers, wild countries, copper ST max and BFG KO2s. I'd go with KO2s if you want a quiet AT tire and make sure you get an alignment at the same time

Take a look at Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus. New model by Pirelli. Have them on my Tahoe, very quiet. Great ratings on Tire Rack.

I just looked at Tire Rack, The Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus are the second highest rated only surpassed by the General Grabber ATx. Thank you for bringing those to my attention as a viable option.

Do you know what the difference between the a/t and the at3 are? I was looking at getting the discoverer a/t ones cause they’re cheaper and still have the aggressive look but can’t find any info on the difference between them.

If you can afford the cost, go with Michelin, they are always among the best. Personally, I won't pay the extra cost to get them, but they are still about the best tire. I look for something else good, and then pick the best rated for the money. However, if I had the money, I'd buy Michelin.

I just bought my 3rd set of Coopers....AT3 4S, this time in P285/70R17. Tried the Kumho AT51 for kicks and ended up returning them to Discount Tire. Unless you really need a 6 or 8 ply tire, the 4 ply P-series is more than adequate. Much improved ride quality. Love the Coopers!

I run the AT3s, have never had an issue with them in snow or offroad. They are quiet enough that I couldn't tell you if they are loud or not but I don't mind a little road noise. I don't think ive put them through a heavy off road test but they got me and a buddy's jeep out of a sticky situation at KY Lake this summer.

Any AT tire is going to be a bit louder than your previous Open Country HT's so you cant expect the same sound. Love my Wildpeaks, and not much louder than the original Rugged Fail AT's

I have had the Hankook DynaPro AT/M on my truck now 69k. (Still have the on now)
They were pretty quite for the first 50k. Once the get really worn they do get louder.
But this seems to be normal with all the other A/T tires I’ve run in the past.
I’m just about to the wear indicator bars now. So I’ll be needing tires soon myself.

FWIW, I rotated my tires every 7,500 miles for the first 60k
