Haven’t personally experienced Tenkara, but it’s pretty popular here on some of our smaller feeder creeks for sure.

To be honest I only went once on the fly since talking with you.
I caught one. Conditions were windy and yada yada.
Last time out it was all bait caster.
Nothing would touch top water anything.
Starting winter prep and I need to put the boat away this weekend.
Always a sad day but the boat has to be done first.
So I will hold on to it for next year and see how it works in the spring.
I will say the 8# is controllable now but if I had a choice I'd take my 4# and use the baitcasters
For the big stuff. The 8# is a workout with bad shoulders and tennis elbow but I'm gonna keep throwing that sucker till I'm as comfortable with it as my 4#
    Thanks for asking.

Yes, not being able to reach out very far. Most places I fish don't allow that anyway do to all of the trees and shrubs on the bank. I'm extremely happy with it and it handles bigger fish quite well. I'm considering getting a second.

Love fishing tenkara. I find that I use more strategy to "find" the fish.
I have fished streams that would be too small and tight for western style.
Do you wade or are you fishing from the shore?
What do you have for a rod now?
I bought a Nissin about a year ago and love it. Used to fish my Sawtooth before that.

I often wade but if it's just a quick stop at a stream I was driving past I'll stay on shore. I have a Mini Teton. Actually ordered it by mistake as I wanted the shorter mini sawtooth rod. Regardless I've been super happy with it. I'll probably add the mini sawtooth to the arsenal next year. I did just see Tenkara Rod Co now has an adjustable length rod, 10.5'-12'. I will say that walking through brush with these things is a pita.

Had a chance to meet up with a buddy I haven’t seen in 16 years and float the Deschutes last week :)

Fishing was really slow but obviously a great time nonetheless:)

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Caught a handful of these buggers last weekend. I was going for trout. I caught them all on that fly (bead head pupa I think) or a variation of it (different color beads). This was the biggest around 14". The smallest was about 3". I did catch one on a stone fly though.
