The other day I saw a Jeep Gladiator Sport in Gator (yes, that's what they call it), and I have to admit it looked pretty boss. At least from behind.

From the side view it still seemed to me too long and awkward. IMO a single cab Jeep truck would be a thing of retro beauty.

I tried my hand at configuring one on their website. It looks like to get all the features of the Tacoma OR (especially for towing) would cost quite a bit more.

I'm not a real fan of their interior or infotainment system. I doubt it would ride as nice as the Taco. And yet out there in the real world, wearing a green that hearkened back to its military roots, it looked decent.

BTW the pictures don't do the color justice. It's not a matte olive drab, but it is a bit brighter and reflects quite a bit more than the above picture.

They have some neat colors. I have seen a couple of Renegades in their version of cement gray, and with the black accents they look great.

The 8.4 uconnect is much more interesting than whatever Toyota is using.

Under "trails" icon in the first pic is a breadcrumb feature that records for as long as you like while on the trails or anywhere for that matter.

I use to have a pretty boss. And not just from behind. She drove a Jeep. A 2011 Wrangler Unlimited. It was green. Her name was Mary... Once, in a managers meeting, Mary, my boss, fired another boss on the spot, in front of everyone. It turned in to a battle of bosses. Arguing back and forth. Even name calling. It was an interesting meeting, to say the least. Mary was an awesome boss, though.

Excellent post. This should help people choose the correct configuration of the Ford Ranger.

I agree with OP that Jeep missed the mark by not offering a reg cab or even extended cab version of the Gladiator.

I can't post a pic but the one in this link looks awesome.

Edit: Figured it out, I’d probably trade in for this honestly. Currently in a DCLB but hard to resist this. Not much for that color or the 80’s roll bar but otherwise, that’s a real nice solid classic Jeep design in my eyes.

I was seriously considering a Gladiator, and when they finally came out I went and looked at one:

Double cab (which I don't need), 5 foot bed (I wish it was a foot longer!), primitive door stops, and it handles like a cow!

The other things I don't need are removable roof panels, removable top, removable doors, and hinged windshield! Seriously, it's a kid's idea of a truck.
