I was a Flight Equipment Technician in the Marine Corps. We sewed using industrial sewing machines. I have made bags and repaired many peices of flight gear. Also used to see name tapes onto cammies for energy drinks.

I'm not much good at sewing, I can stitch two pieces of fabric together but it won't be pretty. I really should start sewing more, though. It's such a useful skill.

And the whole trope of sewing being "unmanly" is dumb as hell. It's a noble skill that anyone should be proud of.

6+ years of practice making tactical gear I can basically design and build whatever I want, including accessories for the Tacoma.

I need to sew the zipper back on to the rear window of my Softopper. The material is very heavy so I was thinking about getting one of those canvas sewing awls.

I sew all the time. It’s one of those under the radar skills, but when you need it you’re a freakin champion.

I hated sewing since i was young. I have vienna sausage fingers, by the time i insert the thread in the loop, i loose all my patience.

The only thing i sewed was a pair of boxers in home economics class haha, actually came out great.

Respect to all sewing dudes!

Hobby Lobby has ripstop nylon on sale so I went and got a few yards to make an awning today. Got it cut, sewn together, grommeted and staked out taut on the ground. Went in the barn to make some shock corded poles and when I came back out damn thing was gone. Wife happened to be washing her car at the time and saw it. Decided it was perfect for covering her car while at work to keep the tree sap off. She had small bean bags attached to the grommets and on the car already. Go figure.

Warning - being able to sew is sorta like owning a pickup. Everyone wants you to move them or make something for them.

Man that is some nice work. I make all my cordura rifle cases but they don’t look nearly as crisp as yours. Is that a Juki mounted in the stand back there? Looks like you struggle with the same thing I do dealing with large sheets of material. Layout and cutting area is my biggest problem. When I was making sails I was lucky enough to use the wood floor at the high school gym. Wish I had that kind of space!
