Tell me about it. I'm pretty sure this is what my wife's cat thinks of me:

That would be a once in a lifetime “natural” buck. He’s the largest one I’ve ever seen in person.

Yeah I agree, post it here so we’ll all know. That is if you don’t mind.

The 8 pt I got a couple weeks ago I gave it to a friend who has some beetles. Hoping they don’t eat the droopy velvet.

beetles are going to stink and it takes a long time, start to finish this is basically 2 days, one day for the removal of tissue, 12-24hrs for whitening process. then let it dry...

heres a write up I did for another guy on a different forum. Lot to read but not too complicated, this is basically for deer but can be used for other animals:

takes a few hours but basically need a 16qt stainless steel pot(available cheap at walmart). Its best to do this outside, otherwise you will get the wife mad at you[IMG].

    1. Skin the skull and take off big chunks of meat if possible dont worry about this step too much. put the skull in the pot and fill with water, then remove the skull.

    2. bring the pot of water to a boil and put the skull into the water and bring it down to a simmer--Simmer for about 45-60 minutes. most of the big chunks of meat should scrape off easily if it doesnt let it simmer or low boil for another 30 minutes. by this time most of the meat should be falling off. If still big chunks simmer some more...Until majority of the skull is cleaned.

    3. Next add 1/4 cup of the arm and hammer washing soda per gallon of water so basically one cup of the washing soda for 16qts pot if its filled. This step is time sensitive- with the water still at a simmer add the washing soda and let it do its magic for 30 minutes and no longer than 45 minutes. at the 30 minutes I pull out the skull again and scrape/brush off any loose meat/cartilage etc. If theres still some stuff stuck on good put it back in the pot for another 15min but no longer than 45. by the end of the 45 minutes the skull should be pretty clean, any residue of meat/cartilage etc should look like soft jello and comes off easily. I get a wire brush and brush off all the remaining tissue I can. I get a thick piece of wire or something like an ice pick to get any little bits of cartilage out of the little nooks around the ear and back of the skull. The brain should be pretty much mush by now and can be rinsed out with a garden hose sprayer. There will be a big chunk of meat in the brain cavity that can be removed with some needle nose pliers. rinse the skull thoroughly and any chunks should easily come out of the nose cavity. spray on jet setting and stand back, spray both ways up the nose and back out from the rear of the mouth.

Now it should be pretty much devoid of all meat and cartilage. there might be a little bit around the ear holes etc but shouldnt be much if any, if you scraped/picked it all off. You can leave it like it is or the next part is the bleach white process.

wear some good rubber gloves for this part.

    4. After the skull is cleaned to your liking mix 50/50 of the white powder (approximately 1/2 cup) and 40% peroxide in a glass or ceramic bowl. it should be the consistency of mayonnaise I just usually pour a little in and mix then pour some more in till it gets the right consistency. I cover the skull with the mixture using a small foam brush. anything I want white I put it on, but be careful around the antlers it will bleach them out too. If you get stuff on the antlers wipe it off immediately. I do the bottom of the skull first then set it down on some plastic and then cover the top and sides of the skull. Once everything is covered let it sit for 12-24hrs and then rinse off all the Powder mixture with a hose. You can save the bleach powder but It doesnt provide as good a result as the first time. So I just usually rinse it off. Let it dry and hang it up.

The washing soda you can get at walmart or most grocery stores in the laundry soap aisle.
the 40% clear and white powder might be able to get at a salon but sally's beauty supply is the cheapest.
The bleach white process can be done after the skull is cleaned at any time. You just have to soak the skull in water for a day to get it wet. Hope this helps, its actually not too bad once you do it a couple times. Hope this helps. any questions let me know.
