If they had lost, but then win out, including the ACCCG, they’re in. Just like when they lost to Syracuse a couple years ago.

 

Doesnt A&M have the hardest schedule in football?

They play 1. Clemsen, 2. Alabama, 3. Georgia, 4. LSU, and 7. Auburn. I think all we can conclude about A&M is they likely aren't a top five team. That doesn't mean they are necessarily bad. Imagine what you would be saying if they won half those games? Knocking off a couple top five teams, loosing to a couple others, you would argue they belong in the top five because thats where they seem to fit.

 

This is Clemsen every year. I have never been impressed by Clemsen's regular season play. Honestly, they kinda suck in a weak conference. Once we are ready to write them off, they end up undefeated and clean up the playoff. They play when it matters, and underwhelm when it doesn't... just like most 19 year olds I've met.

Except for (I'm thinking) was last season of the year before, when they beat 3, top 10 teams, before October even started.
Clemson has talent all over the field.
Ok, the ACC is not the best conference in NCAA.

Think about yesterday's game like this though.
UNC played the absolute best game they could.
Clemson played the absolute worst game they could, but still had the Win.

I think people just love to hate Clemson for some reason.
They are not Bama (thank God). They don't steam roll everyone they play. They are still a very good team with lots of talent.

I know we don't do history in this thread, but pull up the last, call it 5, seasons of TIGER FOOTBALL, and that resume is freaking spectacular compared to anyone else around. The only real outliers are losses to Bama, Pitt and SU.

 

52-4 over the last 4 season, with loses to Bama (2), Pitt, and Syrcuse
Winning against Bama (2) (one of those was a blow out Natty Win), LSU, ND, A&M, OK, OHIO ST (shut out win playoff game mind you), (help me out I know there are more big wins).

Just trying to make a point.

 

Clemson is an underwhelming regular season team that plays well when it counts. Doesn't mean they don't deserve the top spot. It does mean that everyone else will talk shit about them holding the top spot, particularly when you see everyone else in the top ten crushing other teams. At least its better than teams like Ohio State, who year after year look like the best team in the country, beat the best teams teams in the country, and then loose in blowout fashion to teams like Purdue resulting in them being ranked at number 5, on the outside looking in. Bama, OSU, OU, Notre Dame... the list goes on and on of teams with near perfect records with a couple blemishes. Its nothing new, its just college football. We are talking about 19 year old kids that are placed on a pedestal, held responsible for bringing in 100s of millions of dollars in football revenue, pumped full of all sorts of shit that pushes the legal limits of PEDs, and via social media are constantly berated by folks like us who demand perfection. They are gonna have their off days. Even though Clemson has more crappy regular season games than Bama, or other top five teams, they still win them, which is all that matters. Whatever Sweeney is doing with these kids is working. Doesn't matter if its pretty.

So, in true college football fashion, in spite of all the numbers, history, logical explanations, I'd like to add that the Washington Huskies would kick Clemson's ass. Go Dogs!

 

I am sure Clemson will still be ranked number 1 in a couple hours when the rankings come out. And then you can enjoy all the banter on ESPN about how they aren't playing like it. I find that it doesn't matter who is #1, teams play harder against them, like it's their shot at a CFP championship. Clemson could have the easiest schedule in football, and every game will be like a CFP game because they are #1.

 

Top 5? Lol If they were competitive in any of those games you may have an argument. They were one dropped pass from losing to r-Kansas yesterday. FUCKING R-KANSAS.

Aggy is a 7-8 wins in a good year team always have been always will be and nothing will ever change that.

I've never met someone who doesn't like Dabo Swinney. Clemson is good but it helps not having a regular season schedule that is so hard from a physical perspective. Dudes stay healthier if they don't play the second half
