My OEM radiator finally took a . I went to the local auto part store and bought a new one. Putting it on I noticed the new one wasn't as tall as the old one. I went back to the store to double check to see if it was the right one and it was.

Anyone else had a smaller radiator than the original installed?

There's 2 or 3 different size core. Aftermarket should be the same length. I recommend buying denso other then Toyota, not any other brand. Denso chose have the same diameter as one while other brand are not.

    4 run, 2 don't
    20 3/4, 22 5/8 and I forget the other size.

Any way there are 3 different sizes; after all, there are 6 different combinations (3 motors, 2 transmissions).

    My V6 Auto Prerunner uses a 22 5/8 radiator.

Here's a little info on radiators:

Since you have the 2.7, you should have the 21". They maybe have given you the 18" one which I think is for the 2.4L.

Riffing on what jbrandt said, and my own radiator woes I found this:
18 7/8 is the one Toyota specifies for the 5-lug. The middle height one is for Prerunners and 4x4s with a manual transmission. The tallest one is for Prerunners and 4x4s with the auto.

And . . . I think you'll find that it all works fine, except there may be some kinkage with the lower radiator hose, and the fan shroud won't fit exactly.

Not my proudest moment but I had to do some "custom" stuff to fit it. They told me it was the one for my truck so I just put it on. I had to put it on otherwise I would've had to walk to work.
