@Torspd you’re going to finish before me by the looks of it. Stalled a bit on my camshafts because life, you know how it goes. But, I measured the clearances on the RHS this evening. No such luck as you, I need all new buckets, but I will be able to swap two of them to other spots at least...

Whats the sheet you have there? That looks helpful. Also did I miss the pdf on how and where to measure clearances?

 

Three of my driver side exhaust buckets are at the largest gap. All of of the passenger side buckets are at the largest gap. I'll get those at a later date, since the exhaust buckets are super easy to swap in.

 

I am using the attached PDF for clearance measurement. I have also attached that sheet I was using. I made that myself, I'm proud of it... well, not really, but it works.

 

That looks rad. I bet it's as fun to work on as it is to drive.

It's awesome to see the non-tacoma project vehicles. What other people are into is always interesting. Although I have noticed most will go with something else Toyota. Nissan is not my brand, but the 300ZX is my car. Was my dream to own one since high school. I've done a lot of work to this one.

Finally, have a chance to breath after a crazy summer. Subscribed! I have a leaky timing cover, might be on the next GB, depending on the gains. Good job so far guys!

 

Checked clearances yesterday. Every intake was 0.006, with every exhaust being 0.012 on the factory cams. Installed the Kelford cams to check clearance on them and not a single number changed. Very impressed by the QC on these.

 

Do that on your spare engine?

 

Yes sir. No point in checking the current engine as all parts will be installed on the new one. I do plan to check it at some point. things gotta be outta spec with the abuse/water damage and 200K on it.

I didn't get a baseline on the stock cams, but when I checked the clearance on the Kelford ones, I had the same readings as you.

 

What do we think about raising the rev limiter with the new cams and springs?

 

I still worry about the factory piston connecting rods being a weak link. With that said, I'll raise my rev limit to 6000 on the new engine after the stroker is broke in.
