    Howdy folks,

Just this past week, I suddenly started having this ticking noise when I moderately stepped on the gas between 30-50 MPH coming from the engine bay and it was driving me nuts. I researched all over the forums and found some possible reasons such as the exhaust heat shield rattling, high pressure fuel pump, bad gas etc. and I was planning on really digging into it this coming weekend to see what the culprit was...

Come today, right before work, my truck's battery dies. I got it jump started, went to a nearby Autozone and got me a new battery. When I was driving to work, I suddenly realized the ticking noise is completely gone. I'm very glad that all it took was changing out the battery, instead of something possibly being wrong with my engine, but I've never had a this situation before with other vehicles with low battery.

Is this common in Tacomas? I'm just trying to understand what exactly was the reason for the noise?

    Was your battery rattling around?

I don't think so. It was fit snug before I pulled it out.

I bought this truck about 6 months ago, and the dealership never changed out the battery from the looks of it. It looked old and there was a build up of corrosion on the positive side, and I knew I had to change it out soon.

My 2015 has 44k on it and it has the OEM Battery which still looks brand new. My first thought was the battery holder bracket rattling at higher speeds
