also tried to get some 'minor' stains out of old Tacoma mat, (driver mat is a lost cause, maybe i can glue some carpet patches onit, still looking into a good solution)
used some Folex spray-n-rub recommended by @Luv my yota
seemed to work pretty well after it dried

is that a good or bad thing

i did not notice it was not level as i crawled under there
perhaps my head or back bumped into it
i needed the headroom that the ramps would not provide

not bad mileage at all. my 06 corolla still somehow manages to get into the 40s when im easy on it.

had a corolla hatch automatic in the shop yesterday. 124k on it already. no issues to report.

Same here. God forbid there's a strong headwind or I'm looking at even worse numbers.
Once I take the roof rack/lights off the roof I expect it will help some, things act like a big air dam/air brake up there. Haven't used the roof rack enough to warrant keeping it on so it's coming off one of these days soon.

Damn. I'm going to miss being naturally aspirated and not heavily loaded.

Over the past 22 days of road tripping, 2,533 miles I averaged 18.408 MPG. :D
Edited.... Ben quoted me too soon. I have 5 receipts included in the first calculation that was around town at home.
    Yes, adjusted for 32" tires.

I did multiple Trip odometer vs GPS on long highway stretches and got a multiplier of 1.04972376. So it's very minimal.

New rotors and pads this morning. Put in a new MAF sensor, fuel filter, and both upstream and downstream O2 sensors.

Came in early and threw the truck on the lift and knocked it out before the sun came up.

Next will be new springs, coils, shocks and Ss brake lines.

I'll do better to get pics next time. Got the before pics, didn't get after pics :(

Most of the trips I do require a full day - or more - of freeway driving just to reach the trailhead, so you can imagine my delight when we decided to do a trip on the west coast. Sort-of. At least, our meeting location was only four hours away - in the tiny little community of Mazama, WA. From there, we'd head north - to British Columbia, Canada - where we planned to run The Whipsaw Trail and then make our way north and west to Molybdenite Peak - before turning south again for the United States.

Check out the rest of part 1 here and get ready for another fun adventure:
Whipsaw Trail 1 - Finally Four, We Venture North

Need someone with a Taco to check something for me. I am working on my EGR system and noticed that the VSV is always open when the truck is turned on. I noticed this by turning the key, unplugging the VSV *click* plug it back in *click*. Is that normal function? I thought it is electronically controlled and only opens during higher RPMs than idle?

I'm talking about this lil guy right under my intake on my 2.7L:

    Screen Shot 2019-09-30 at 1.26.46 PM.jpg

*Edit* The engine was warmed up btw. I saw in the manual the EGR will only function once warmed up. Still unsure if it should open the VSV as soon as it's plugged in or not though.

VSV switches ON when engine is warm. Try it again when engine is cold.

    ok will do!

I noticed low to no vacuum at the EGR as the VSV was fully open when on so it could just be that the intake vacuum port is clogged as well.

Did you give the EGR valve and air pipe a thorough cleaning before replacing the 3 NEW gaskets?

EGR seemed to work fine given the "suck" test. Engine shuttered then stalled when vacuum was applied to it. If I'm going to clean the throttle body and intake manifold I might as well clean the EGR anyways too huh?

I mostly want the minimum work to get it to pass smog ASAP then do all the full work needed to get it running perfect.

This stuff. I was cleaning the bugs off the front of my wife’s Acura and thought I would try it on the headlights since it’s non-abrasive and I had it in hand.
