the stock mudflaps suck!

Okay this really bugs me!!! Does anybody agree that the stock mud flaps suck on 2nd gen. Tacomas??? I ripped two of mine off already... They are so long they get caught on everything... I don't want to not have any flaps at all and aftermarket ones look horrible!! Any solutoins?????? Thanks!!!:d

no you cut them a couple of inches higher

 

I took mine off after my first time driving over a parking lot wheel stop..

 

IMO the truck looks much better with them completely removed..

 

you just cut some off the bottom to give yourself some clearance. I removed my front ones but now I throw rocks at the truck and now have a few rock chips.

 

i like the protectoin from flying rocks i drive on back roads alot...

 

Oh.. yah i dont get too much of that on the Cali freeways..lol

I also took them off because the first time i got stuck in the sand, the exhaust pipe melted the rear flap.. lol

 

haha yeah... Trust me if i could they would be off!!! But if i did i would no longer have a white truck with all the chips... Lol

 

trim them as i did mine on the 06 i had. worked really well, and it was still functional and looked pretty good too.




i cut 5 inches off the fronts(didnt need to do the rears) and smoothed the edges out.

thanks luke!! i had to do it to the 06 wehn i busted my mudflap on tat rock on the first tacoma meet we had. the 04 i have now has some flexible mud flaps....i like them alot better than the ones that came on the 06 i had.

yeah, if I would have know I would have kept the flaps off my 02. I remember the picks from the meet you posted.

 

well, with mine, i marked them with a sharpie, then cut them with an airsaw. but they cut fairly easy, so i think a pair of tin snips will work too pretty well. then just take a pocket knife or razor knife and take the rough edges off.

Ok then does anyone have some front flaps they want to give/sell me since I hate rock chips and the road tar that inevitably ends up on the rocker

 

just a heads up....if no one on this thread has any mudflaps to part with, keep an eye out on the buy/sale/trade thread...they come up on there periodically. i have seen them on ebay for pretty cheap at times too.
