    Since you're in Canada, aren't you legally required to have DRL? If so, probably the best fix for that would be to add a 3rd pigtail to the turnsignal socket and wire it to a key on power source. This will make the dim part of the bulb light up when the key is on.

    You are correct, DRL is mandatory and I do have it.

    I will keep this in mind, definitely a good suggestion!
