As someone who works in auto claims, yes . Insurance companies spend millions on investigating fire and theft claims as that's where most of the fraud happens. you be amazed with how many people think they can get out a car payment by parking their car around the corner and lighting it on fire or reporting it stolen.

I would buy a low mileage 2011 Ford Ranger Super Cab for around $18,000 and be as tickled as a pig eating slop.

Deer are awfully thick around here. Easy to swerve to miss one and drive off the road into a pond. Damn deer!

haha, as long as you don't mind being found at fault that may work. depending on the size of the deer, might be better to floor it and and hit em.

Used to have a Jeep WJ with electrical issues, worst vehicle I have ever owned. every day I thought about driving it into one of the many retention ponds around here and blaming it on avoiding some sandhill cranes

Wonder why more women around here driving new chebbies don't just do that instead of driving off in a pond and talking to the onstar operator while it is sinking asking her what they should do. LOL!

you laugh but a woman next door to my parents ran off her driveway into a pond and drowned in her car. I dont even think she unbuckled her seatbelt. Some people just sit there and die

Regardless of what the cause was, it is a good reminder to ANYBODY doing any electrical add-ons, your fuse should be as CLOSE to the power source (battery) etc. as possible. If you add the fuse downstream of the power source, whatever that wire can contact between the source and the fuse is capable of causing a fire. I have had friends with fires from CB's etc. that just used the little glass buss fuse that is about 2 inches from the radio. Well, that 8 feet of wire from there to the battery is NOT fused. So, if it contacts metal it will ground out and turn into a red hot mess! I usually add my fuses within 3" of the battery post.

Came up on a rollover accident last year, car was on fire but barely.... girl was trapped inside and unconscious, then the fire got BIG, really quickly. She woke up and started screaming, we helplessly just heard her die.

Ever since then I put fire extinguishers in every one of my and my family member's cars. Don't know if it would have helped her in that particular situation but would've given her a fighting chance at least.

EVERY one of us should have a fire extinguisher and I recommend getting the brackateer mount with a quick release like so:

Give yourself and early Christmas present! I hope to never need it but its always within arms reach if I do.

Jesus, that has gotta suck, I'm really sorry you had to experience that... I'm starting to feel that Toyota should start looking into doing recalls and installing HUMVEE style fire suppression systems at this point...

Yeah sorry to see what happened to your truck just glad everyone got out unharmed.

As an EMT I'm sure you've experienced worse things than what I saw, just makes me really appreciate first responders, you guys have to live with that shit all the time and thats a heavy burden, much respect for what you do bro.

Edit: also seems like this shit happenes all the time, I tried to google the old news article about the accident I saw and couldn't even find it "rollover car fire mission valley" pulls up SO MANY fucking stories kinda crazy.

Thank you, I'm slightly jaded at this point which is why I feel bad for you... Watching a helpless conscious person burn to death is no easy pill to swallow, sucks that she came-to at the worse possible time and her last memory was that

Judging by what I can see in the pictures, your fire originated on the driver's side of the engine compartment, which would explain why the brakes failed early. I have been in public fire investigations for years, and that amount of damage is too great for me to put my neck out and determine an exact cause. Insurance companies often will, though.
