Baby wipes can only get you so far in life. And that film you feel you have is prob worse than just staying dirty for me.

jumped like $0.25 here in the last week.

    They're blaming some "production" issues.

You're talking to a marine; we LIVED off of baby wipes since my ass was always outside the wire.

We'd go as long as a month without a shower.

Yeah that's what I read too. I don't want to risk breaking TW rules but I suspect the new gas tax is also behind it and we won't see it come down very much once these production issues are sorted out. Hope I'm wrong but we'll see.

Oh, I'm aware. But that was a time and place for it. You have options here. I just laughed at you guys on drone feeds from my A/C'd cube in DC.

Supposedly it's more to do with two local refineries in SoCal that are undergoing past due maintenance, article I read cited the Saudi refinery as the initial price increase but the bulk of it is due to local refineries being temporarily down (or limiting supply rather)

Nah, they said they'd be up and running within a few weeks after the attack. The Saudis said they'd have full production by the end of the month (which was yesterday).

Nah, the CA prices *now* are more local maintenance issues.

Well they may be back to full production, but the supply chain doesn't get replenished immediately. Regardless, it sounds like that isn't the root issue.

That article cites how the record high was nearly $5 for regular back in 2012, I had forgotten about that but I remember it now. That was crazy especially for 7 years ago, I forget what triggered that huge price jump back then though.

It was mainly investor activity, mixed with finally making footholds after the financial crisis. There was a little Iran worry since that was when the nuclear deal was being pushed through but mainly investor activity.

Well yeah, a higher gas tax makes the price you see at the pump higher. The overall price is higher, but that's not the cause of this recent increase. I believe the argument was that the current tax rate wasn't sustainable and at least partially to blame for our shitty roads.

But that's how prices always work. The guy at the local gas station will raise prices *immediately* even though he hasn't actually had to purchase any of the gas at the higher rate. Then when oil prices drop, there always seems to be a few days/weeks lag to when those lower prices actually hit the pumps.
