I deal with it on my aluminum boats all the time. Galvanic corrosion. It's a severe problem with anything steel that touches the aluminum. And you can't exactly use aluminum screws to fasten stuff, they have to be stainless because aluminum doesn't have enough shear strength. Like you, I will never have to deal with it on a vehicle because I can't keep them that long. But my boat is 16 years old and it's an issue.

Wow... My mind can't handle even starting to imagine spending that much on a mid-sized truck.

I can’t either. Thought I would look into a new one while I was there but that’s to much for a mid-size

It did pass the frame inspection but they want me to return to get it coated when Toyota releases it?

NH hasn't approved Toyota's suggested repair/remedy procedures for this newest recall yet, so we are doing preliminary inspections only.

They're all stupid $$ these days. My truck cost roughly half of what I paid for my house when it was new, and it's only really 1 step up from a base model. Even buying it used it was roughly 1/3 of the house.

Yeah it's painful. Sticker (when new) on the 2011 I'm getting is about $60k.

Yep, and that's why I keep buying used. I've been fortunate to find current model year trucks with very low miles, let someone else take that initial financial hit.

That is the best way to do it, as long as you're not picky on options.

I'm generally not. There are certain options that I want from the factory because they're damn near impossible or cost prohibitive to add later on but, beyond that I don't mind a more basic vehicle. It's sort of like a blank canvas that I can customize. If it's loaded up, I'm not sure I'd know what to do with myself. I've been happy with a basic XLT for my last 3 vehicles.

I was honestly considering doing an XL or XLT for a new vehicle, but this Lariat is calling me... It has butt coolers...

Now I just have to wait on paperwork.
