Custom drive shafts?

    Anyone bought from drive shaft super store? They have a 2 piece drive shaft with a REAL CV joint after the carrier bearing.

    Looks like a good price to me, opinions?

    I'm looking to get a double cardan and the point the rear diff straight at her to kill all vibrations.

    You need to make sure they have the right measurments for a 2nd gen. That is the way 1st gen taco's and tundra driveshafts are made.

    i had my stock driveshaft convert to like above and it solved all my vibe problems.

    Don't know much about the site you're looking at but I had a buddy of mine order from Tom Wood's Driveshafts for his older 4runner and he loves it.

    Just more options to consider. I've never personally been in the market for a driveshaft.

    See I saw Tom woods as well but I was told they just mod them and don't sell them ready to bolt on. That's what I'm looking for, a clean swap haha.

    I'm fairly certain my friend did a straight bolt in with his. Wouldn't hurt to just call both companies and talk with them though.

    The Tom Woods company is highly respected and well known for outstanding quality. I've never delt with them, but I've heard good things from friends who have.

    And was up for the whole two piece shaft? That's pretty good because that's right around what I was expecting. I also assume that that's with a double cardan correct?

    His was a one piece. Double cardan at the front and standard u joint at the rear. Both ends were flanged.

    Not sure I’m following... His model 4Runner didn’t have a carrier bearing setup so it was a one piece driveshaft from the factory.

    Ah yes, I'm wanting to keep the two piece since it's better clearance and apparently has less critical speed issues.

    So basically I'm looking to just get the whole thing, with a true CV joint after the carrier bearing which honestly it's just how the truck should have been designed by default...

    yeah your looking for a two piece with the Cardan joint after the bearing. Tom Woods makes the rear half with the cardan that will bolt to your factory one piece, they do not make a full 2 piece driveshaft. you would also need to get it balanced once you bolted them together.

    Hmmm, that makes me feel like just buying the whole thing so it's all fresh and new.

    No but I've asked this same question & always get redirected to Tom Woods. I want to know the answer to this question! I feel like everyone just says "buy TW" & people are overpaying for the label.

    Was there ever an answer to this? I'm considering doing the same. Would like to keep a two piece shaft with the CV after the CB. Don't want a once piece from TW for clearance reasons.
