Every time I drive down the road the rear access cab windows in the back wind up opening up.
They just will not stay shut. Its annoying!!!!
I don't see any visible problems. The latch closes like it appears it should. They have the little aftermarket billet bracket in them so I am wondering if the bracket is slightly off or something.
I am to the point that I want to just seal the window shut. I have no real need to open the window.
    Any suggestions?
Has anyone ever sealed their rear windows shut?

I think you have that piece on wrong. Isn't the curve suppose to face out?

First, the one pictured looks to be aftermarket. OE was black plastic (IIRC).
Secondly, my 02 latches broke (both). Replaced with those aftermarket /aluminum jobbers and my experiences are the same. Windows won't stay shut.
I tried them in all orientations
Dealer wants ~$50 for a latch assembly, one
Windows are zip-tied shut right now
PS - removing the roll pin is a pain in the a$$ - Any hints/suggestions to make this easier?

Yea, I just replaced my broken plastic pieces with aluminum ones too and they wouldn't stay closed. I had to gently bend the tab coming from the cab in order to make the windows shut more securely. In other words I pried the tabs coming off the cab slightly towards the inside of the cab in order to make the window shut tighter. They shut great now. Hope this helps you too.

I put the similar aluminum ones on my daughter’s 02 access cab and they won’t stay closed either. They’re held closed with twist ties right now. I may try bending the tab as @nik1093 said above.

I also got the aluminum ones, and they suck. I zip tied them as suggested above, and have had no problem since. My access portion of my cab just holds my golf clubs, thankfully they don't need a cool breeze.

That was one of my theories. Maybe they are on wrong. They came on the truck so I have no idea of which is the correct way to install them install since they were already there when I bought the truck.
From the pic I found on the web it appears that the curve should indeed be on the inside so maybe that is the issue.

Curve should be on the inside. BTW I will scream this from the mountain tops those aluminum aftermarket pieces suck Ass!! Spend the money on new mounts, I agree about the roll pin, you have a very bad chance of breaking the bracket coming from the pillar, by pressing the pin out. It costed me more money to fix than thinking I was upgrading that elbow for $7.00. You can’t rely on bending that piece as it is pot metal it WILL break. Someone should 3-D print these pieces they would sell like crazy.

Anyone have the part number for the whole assembly. I might have to consider purchasing the whole thing and seeing how that works out.

You're going to laugh, but I used a chain breaker for my go-kart, to remove the pin in the window hinge piece. I replaced the broken plastic piece with metal also. Mine close and stay closed, but not quite as tight, sit up maybe a mm more than stock.

Yes, I love my aluminum latches, they are grandson-proof (which is why I had to replace the plastic ones LOL.) I think the OP has figured out something was not installed properly or there may be some adjustment to be made, mine fit perfectly.

Me neither but any kids who ride in the back need something to play with and the back window is it. Cup holder doesn't hold their attention long enough.

i got the aluminum ones from somewhere.... the curve went to the inside & they lock down tight.

havent had them come loose or open 1 time. work perfectly.

now i DID also bend the latch assemb in some to make them tighter on the seals & eliminate noise.

My 01 taco side windows broke. But thanks to you all I was able to fix it. Got the part from Amazon. Not sure they close but good enough and they don’t rattle anymore. Maybe they’ll settle in. Thanks to TRDRACING5 for that super helpful video!

Just remember if the window isn't tight enough.... You can bend the latch to the body side a bit & tighten it up.

Honestly: haven't opened the windows since these have been installed. They don't flop open anymore & have no reason to open them with PW's & a/c.

Great little part for the money. Yes you can make these yourself once you see them if you have a mini mill.

Great tip. Thanks. I’ll figure how to bend them. My AC does not work and only reason I know it’s ’cause a friend borrowed the taco to move (when you have a taco truck you have friends you didn’t even know you have). I never use the AC. Love to ride with the windows open. But I guess I need to work on it. The rear bumper is all rusted up. That’s my next project. I had to replace the front breaks yesterday and I must say of all the cars I’ve ever had these guys figured out a great design to make it so easy. Love my Taco.
