I decided against the front locker when I regeared. I sometimes regret it. I wish I would have done a trutrac at least.

From my research ive determined that, if youre wheeling hard the odds of breakage can be high.

I dont intend to wheel that hard, but i have been in a situation where im pretty sure* a front locker would have helped me get unstuck (3 tires in snow, one on asphalt kinda things). Now... Im not saying a front locker would have magically pulled me out of those scenarios, but we had 3 guys in similar situations that weekend that all said "man i wish i had a front locker to pull me through that one spot"

So my thought is its better to have an not need, than need and not have. Especially for those of us in SR5/Sports with no Atrac (or MTS/CC) up front.

100% emergency, i just need one extra wheel moving kinda thing. Use it for a few seconds turn it right back off.

Thats where im at in the IFS locker debate.

Of course it will be 5 years before i can afford one but, its on "the list" lol

Thanks gents and I welcome feedback/advice from others. I should mention I do have a good winch upfront, but if there were no other vehicles or winch location, I do see your points. Hmmmm, internal thought process continues. Oh and I am not rich. I am just fortunate enough to have a side business (solo consulting company, evenings/weekends/PTO from regular job) that involves me getting to offroad locations, hence I can write all of my truck shit off. Either pay the taxes or use that money to invest in my truck (after % of rent, liability insurance, etc.), so I happily choose the latter.

Anyone else have words of wisdom for me?

Let me make it easier for you. Get the locker!

If I have to do it all over again, I will still get the locker no doubt about that. I broke the axel because I was being dumb and tried to climb through where solid axel Jeeps, Landcruiser 80 series, and a Humvee refused to climb through. I knew I was going to break something and I even told my friend that before I got there. Breaking stuff and fixing is half of the fun for me. Plus, even if you have to change the axel on trail, it isn't that hard as long as you know how to do it and have the tools. At the end of the day it all depends what you are trying to concur with you truck. Front locker has helped me get through stuff that I wouldn't have made it through normally. Front locker comes in handy not only on rocks, but in sand and snow also.

We went the same location, he drove into the river and couldn't get enough traction, put both lockers on and stuck, LOL.

    Wrecked!
A front locker is not needed. Its nice but good lines , good tires air down, and good control with low gears will get you father then those that hammer down. 99% of the time. without breaking shit.
