    Looking for some advice on my wrecked 2011 TRD OF 4X4 access cab. If the insurance doesn't total it and it goes to a mechanic what are the chances of internal engine damage? Hard to tell from the picture, but the electric fan is defiantly rubbing on the radiator. So if the fan got pushed back into the motor what could i be getting my self into? I imagine the fan is driven by the timing chain? After the wreck (not my fault might I add, the other person hit me head on in MY lane) I cranked it and it was reving very high almost like the butterfly was stuck partly open. Today when it was cranked for all of about 5 seconds it didn't rev but you can very clearly hear the fan hitting the radiator. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. Its driving me crazy that I can't take it apart and try to see whats going on

    I’d advise you to not start the engine any more.
    No need to cause further damage if you want to try to keep your truck.

    for example;

    If the fan is hitting the radiator, and the serpentine belt jumps off, it has a tendency to wrap it’s self up around the crank pulley. When it does this it can/usually damages the front oil seal.

    Sorry about your truck man.
    Hopefully you can save it.

    It's not totaled, all cosmetics mostly and a few pushed in ac lines and the fan, plus the body work. All simple stuff.

    I wouldn't be so sure about that, look at that radiator support. That's a lot of damage.

    Definitely don't try and start it though. Worst case the engine is valuable, unless you screw it up trying to run it.

    I did pretty much the same damage (maybe a tad less) on my 2nd gen 07. It was 8k to fix and that's 7 or 8 years ago.

    Insurance guy wanted to start even though I was against it. I don't have any experience with body damage, I wouldn't even be able to guess how much it would be to replace the hood. Its really the engine damage that worries me or that something internal got knocked loose. Truck took a pretty good hit. My air bags did not go off but the other driver's did. It happened quick but I want to say the engine died after impact

    Where are you located, and how much does the insurance want to buy it back?

    I am in the panhandle of Florida. They want me to settle for 19656.07 for it. it had 95142 miles. 305 70 r16 size tires with probably around 50% tread left and a 6inch RC lift kit

    While on the subject what does anyone think of the 2013 TRD OR access cab tacos? 4X4 of course

    Was that recently? Heres the stressful part. Insurance will only pay for my rental car for 7 days after its determined its a total loss. Currently looking at a 2013 access cab trd or 4x4 with 66k on it. Shouldnt be to much routine maintenance to look for in something with that low of miles right?

    Damage doesnt look all that bad to be totalled !!

    A friend of mine has a 89 Jeep Cherokee that has been totalled by the insurance company (4) times ( four separate major accidents over 20 years) . EA time he bought it back from the insurance company and received a salvage certificate .He easily repaired the damage ea time and was completely roadworthy
