Yeah, but your constant law enforcement complains are irritant and annoying

 

Because ...

1. They are indeed a violation of the 4th amendment (unreasonable search and seizure). The 1990 supreme court case Michigan vs. Sitz determined that they “probably were unconstitutional but getting even one drunk driver off the road made it okay.” All the DUI checkpoints in Pennsylvania succeed in doing is holding up traffic and pissing off the sober motorists.

2. I really do not like dealing the police. It makes me incredibly nervous and my parents say this is normal. I have nothing to hide, but I find myself shaking almost uncontrollably whenever I’ve had to talk with police. I think this is an Aspergers thing. Do not mistake this for being anti-police, because how grateful do you think I was when a drunk driver slammed into my truck and accused me of running the stop sign, but the police believed my story and arrested him?

3. My biggest complaint about the local DUI checkpoints is that they back up traffic and delay me from getting home when I want to get home.

4. Part of me has a “What’s next?” mentality. If we let these random checkpoints go unchecked, what else could the government be capable of doing?

You were pretty pissed at that one security guy on the base in Hawaii for pulling you over, and you wanted to whoop his ass.

I’ve never wanted to whoop someone’s ass over something like that, but the sheriff’s deputy who stopped me last January took the fact that I accidentally went through the red light a bit too personally. The guy was easily 5-6 years younger than me and something about his demeanor told me he wanted to have a metaphorical pissing contest. I’m better than that and just did everything he said. This obviously made him more annoyed, so he called a real cop (sheriff’s office deputies have the authority to pull over and detain people but not write tickets) and embellished the truth, saying I’d blatantly blown through the red light and almost caused an accident. Then the responding officer who wrote me the ticket despite not having seen the actual violation tried into intimidate me into just paying the ticket by saying that he and deputy so-and-so would be in court if I fought it...

I was bullied in school and I have had unprofessional staff members (teachers, teacher assistants, etc) attempt to strong arm me into simply keeping my mouth shut. It didn’t work then and it doesn’t work now...

I called the lawyer I know and had it dealt with so I wouldn’t get any points on my license. I admit I was wrong, but a badge and a gun does not grant one the right to be an asshole. Again, I admit I was wrong, but in addition to the most obvious issues of not wanting points on my license that would most certainly raise my insurance rates and potentially cost me my job, both the deputy and the cop were dickheads and I used my legal rights as an American citizen to return the favor.

 

PICTURES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2019 JUNKYARD ADVENTURE: As many TW members know, I recently went to a salvage yard owned by my uncle's best friend. This particular salvage yard did not have a vehicle newer than about 2010, and there were A LOT of classic vehicles!

 

This 1969 Pontiac GTO belongs to my uncle's friend. It was parked here probably 25 years ago. This is not a salvage car; It has a good title, but it was purchased for parts. The trees on either side have grown exponentially in the last 20-25 years, and now they would probably have to be cut down in order to move this car...

A BMW 325 coupe, now reduced to makeshift wheel and tire storage...

 

This 1989 BMW 735 was actually not a salvage car; It has a clean title as far as I know and is for sale...

 

The safety inspection sticker on this 1973 Oldsmobile (I think it's an Oldsmobile but I am not entirely sure; the body looks like a Chevy Nova but the grille looks like an Oldsmobile) expired in 2016, so for a vehicle this old it has not been off the road that long...

 

An unknown 1970s wagon that appears to have had a brief career as a demo derby car before ending up here...
