Yeah you and @Sperrunner got me fucked up.

 

I'd probably just toss one of the VGs laying round here in one, about the same really, SOHC... 3.0... V6, except the VG is older and makes more power and torque... also sounds better. Would fit right in and I'd just gut the 4WD and have it be lowered with just RWD.

What door problems are those? My 1st gen doors always worked wonderfully

I wouldn't call that a door problem, maybe a door handle problem but don't let that dissuade you from buying a <$300 truck

 

Only if you fuck something else up. Up until the newer second gens they all worked the same, little lock rods. 2nd gen runner door handles fit 1st gens I think even.

 

Little clasp that holds the rod from jumping out probably snapped, I replaced mine with zipties haha

 

Now that they use mostly zf transmissions they’re alright.

To bad anything but their Cummins and v8s are trash.

Honestly I can’t think of many American v6s or 4 cylinders I’d call reliable.

 

If the handle itself isn't cracked then it's probably slipping off the rods inside the door. Assuming it's the same setup as our trucks, IDK.

I’ve done 3 heads on 2.2s all of them cobalts. It’s apparently common. Most of the ones in the junkyards around here are in there because of it

 

They're a good source of parts for slingshots haha. When a guy at a carshow was showing off his slingshot all I could think of was how hateful that little engine is and how they should have gone to Honda like Arial did

Eh those were alright. But by comparison of jap 4 pots back then? Didn’t hold a candle. The ol Honda’s, yotas, and Nissan’s were bulletproof back when the 2.2 was in its infancy
