I didn't think bobcats attacked things close to their size. Most likely coyotes. They're everywhere.

Does he even have time to use that thing? Farmers never stop working. Jack rabbit in distress works pretty good for any predator. Even got a bear to come in once.

Coyotes are open year round and even 24/7 except hours of darkness during big game rifle seasons. Cats IE: bobcat and cougar have a per person bag limit and also gmu harvest quota/cutoff. Wdfw feels they know the holding capacity that each area can support for a healthy population of animal.

Hell they roam the Microsoft campus at all hours of the day and are often seen throughout Kirkland and other major cities, even Seattle. You shoot one, and 3 or 4 more pop right up. They even come to eat their own dead. A dead coyote makes good bait for other coyotes. Cats are a bit trickier and don't usually just come running in on a string like coyotes do.

Coyote hunting is one thing I want to do again. Only been once years ago. Was enjoyable for sure. Plus the town we were in had a bounty on them cause they were overpopulated and harming livestock. Was $10 per. Wasn't a bad way to spend a weekend and hangout, doing some shooting, and have it all paid for lol

yeah...because when you shoot one you disrupt the whole population and territorial hierarchy. all predators [other than humans] maintain a population based upon resources [food supplies]. They dont over breed. The wdfw are a bunch of idiots.

Uhhh.... The problem comes when predators decide that farm animals and pets are now their resources. Oh, and when you shoot one it's the same effect as it being eaten by a bigger predator, or hit by a car. The balance is on both sides. Hence the word balance.

Totally agreed on the idiots thing though.

I thought ahead and stocked up in Idaho but couldn’t help seeing what they had down here. Still haven’t been able to find a bar to grab a beer that doesn’t require ordering food although the guys in the Utah thread said they exist..... also all draft beer is 3.2%

Like I said, an areas holding capacity of [insert any animal here]. Holding capacity meaning territory size/availability, food supply, and other necessities. Killing of predators can affect the animal population, either by reducing their numbers or just the opposite, they react by breeding and producing 3 or 4 pups per litter based upon variables of the environment they inhabit.

Now I'm not saying random killing of predators leads to an increased population of said animal, but it balances itself out.

At least we agree on something. They are the worst when it comes to game management.

It's called evolution. Your environment changed, so it's time to evolve. if you choose not to evole into a domestic cat hunter, you might survive.

Damnit, my notification preview popped up and all I saw was "if you choose to turn into a domesticated cat", the rest was cut off.

For a second I actually thought about life as a cat. If I could, I'd be @Nimitz 's cat and travel all sorts of places.
