I went with 16's because I just loved the way they looked. I like the look of a taller sidewall, but I didn't want to have to work to fit 285/75R17's on the Tacoma, so 285/75R16's it was. Personally, I think a 285/70R17 looks just a little too small, even though it's effectively the same diameter as my tires.

Here is a 285/75R17 (~34) I had on my 4Runner. The sidewall height is the same size as the Tacoma's 285/75R16's (~33).

I kept the 16” TRD rims and put on 285 KO’s. No regrets!

If you’re considering keeping your stock tires, you’re not off-roading to the point that wheel size will matter.

Having same thoughts. Want to swap out the OEM wheels on my '19 DCLB-OR. Have eyes on 17" TRD wheels and will probably level out the front-end with 5100s.

    Which tires are those 265/75s?

I went with 16s for the reason above, doesn’t seem like much difference but I like the look of a little extra meat. ALSO not immediately replacing tires was a bonus (my wallet appreciated it)

Oops... I goofed in my first line. I meant to write "...285/75R16's it was." But they are Nitto Ridge Grapplers, load range E. Same tires I ran on the 4Runner.

Gotcha, I was going to say those looked pretty beefy for 265s. Good looking truck

So I just received a quote for the 17 inch TRD Pro at $195 a wheel. Is this a fair price versus trying to source cheaper and jump though hoops versus just taking the truck in and letting them take care of everything?

That’s about right from what I’ve seen. I haven’t found them much cheaper than that new, even looking on eBay. Seems like a good deal, especially if it’s through someone local that you might be able to do some dealing on install price

Check out a few dealer's parts shops online. Olathe Toyota has them for $172ea. https://parts.olathetoyota.com/oem-parts/toyota-trd-17-in-matte-black-alloy-wheel-call-for-shipping-to-ak-hi-ptr2035110bk/?c=Zz13aGVlbHMmcz0xNy1pbmNoJmE9dG95b3RhJm89NHJ1bm5lciZ5PTIwMTgmdD10cmQtcHJvJmU9NC0wbC12Ni1nYXM=

For sure! If you're purchasing from a Toyota dealer, see if they'll price match. Olathe Toyota is right down the street from me, so I'm pretty lucky. They'll even price match or beat other dealer's pricing. The parts lady got upset that I was going to a different dealer for a lower priced item and she offered to match their price.

Shoot, I would go 15s if it was doable!
    Because sidewall make panties fall.
