Ya that's a pretty cool picture. My best friend is a fire fighter also. Takes some special (read crazy lol) people to run into a burning building when all good sense tells you that you should be getting the heck out of dodge. :)

I'm on the North Shore of Lake Superior this week grouse hunting with the dog and a friend. Woodcock flights are moving through earliest and heaviest I have ever seen it. They move through once the cold and snow hits Canada and pushes them South hard for them to find earth worms in the snow.

Normally first flight comes through Oct. 10 or later. Frost on the pumpkins last night here, if there were any pumpkins that is. Will help remaining leaves drop thank goodness. 3 grouse yesterday washout today with rain and wind.

Last night cooked a 2 lb. 1 3/4" ribeye for the 2 of us. Front came through and wind started screaming and then rain followed. Can hear the waves of Lake Superior crashing on the rocks. Still can tonight and quite the light show with lightning and thunder over Lake Gitche Gumee looking South down toward the UP of Mi. and Wi.

    Sept ribeye chimney.jpg

    Sear.jpg

Turned out well, very well. With some of my no boil Mac N cheese with ham sitting under a pork shoulder I made last week.

Friend hunting with drives a FJ. He is a foodie and has a bad smoking habit also. Has a platform with pull outs in the back he puts the dog crates on. And had to show off his 100 year old chicken fryer. But I am not jealous

    Castiron chicken fryer.jpg

Might use it yet at the cabin. If not this week during the 2 weeks we come back in mid Oct.

Hey! Not my Canadian Bacon LOL

Seems strange to be able to do this and have internet here finally. They were able to lay cable in the Canadian Shelf this summer so have internet at last. No cell phone but I can WiFi enable my phone and use VoIP if I decide to. I elect not to. Enable SIP routing on fax servers at work for telecom to connect but maybe here I do not want to be connected. But TW Food Smoking that is OK...

Smoked and seared some ribeyes from Costco last night. They came out awesome, I was a little worried all the fat would get a little too smokey but they were delicious. Did mine with unicorn and the the ladies with the old Lindberg-Snider I've always used on steak. Both were great.

I’m tired of these record high temps here in the southeast but I’m definitely not ready for snow!

This is where I ventured to on Sunday.

This was at about 5500' though, luckily no prospect of snow down around town for a while yet, just 40* and rain.

Man, that's seriously awesome looking. That second picture would like great hanging on the livingroom wall.

Yeah, it's a real pretty spot up there. First time I have seen it with snow, it was actually perfect timing because once the snow starts to accumulate up there the trail gets tough to pass quick.
