Seems a bit inadequate to me. Anyone have first hand experience and/or suggestions for a replacement?

    TIA

I didn’t get a bumper jack. Mine came with a basic scissor jack. I carry an 8-ton Blackhawk Bottle Jack separately.

You will be very disappointed if you put a jack to your bumper. Break out your owners manual to locate your jacking points for your vehicle..

I'v used the stock bottle jack, it is a pretty decent jack for an OEM. Does the job. It is screw style bottle jack. Other than severely overloading it (or submerging it in mud for a few days), I don't think you can really hurt it. It may be a little short for some lifted rigs.

I've never heard it referred to as that. Some aftermarket bumpers do advertise that the bumper can be used as a jack point, but those are for the HiLift style OR jacks.

Scissor jack, bottle jack, floor jack, and farm jack are the terms I am familiar with.

Bumper jack infers that one uses the bumper as a jack point. Stock bumpers will crumble under that pressure. The manual has jack points noted for the OEM bottle jack. I've not used the jack yet, but it looks easy and strong enough to do the job.

Belittling those you are seeking feedback from does little to get you what you desire. Your original statement was not phrased well and you lash out. Relax some...

Always use a well rounded piece of lumber to support the jack to the bumper when available. When not available I jack directly under the transmission oil pan for front tire changes and underneath the gas tank for the rear for stability.

A bumper jack is basically a small hi lift or farm jack. Tacomas come with bottle jacks, or maybe the newer ones come with scissor jacks I'm not sure. But they certainly don't come with bumper jacks.

The factory jack in the Tacomas is a pretty stout unit. A manufacturer will not put something in to the vehicle that could not do the job as described in the manual. There would be some major lawsuits otherwise. The jack is nearly identical to the unit that came with my '88 E350 Motorhome. That unit is 5,000kgs and the factory jack lifts a wheel with little effort. If you are concerned and prefer something different. Then you can't go wrong with a hydraulic bottle jack. Just make sure you measure ground to jacking point on your truck and the find a jack that fits at it's minimum height spec.

Just leave op. You're asking a forum about lifting a truck in the air. Correction, you've failed at asking a basic question. Just leave.
