Turning this into a side business seems like a silly idea. What idiot would have suggested doing this to you? :anonymous:

In all honesty, I would rather give you my business than some big box store that sells some generic one. Plus I'm sure yours would be much more sturdy.

And, it certainly would be more sturdy than an Angle and channel iron built frame. You also won’t get a 3,500 lb axle on store bought trailer.

Is there a reason the three member that make up the tongue are built as separate members mounted under the square frame work and not just part of the square frame work?

This was built to be an off road trailer. The way that I built it gives a backbone that runs the entire length of trailer, and supports that are fully welded top and bottom on the rear cross bar, middle crossmember, front cross bar, and the backbone itself. Strength and rigidity would be the reasons.

Absolutely Timothy, I thank you for your input. The reason I ask is that my trailer I believe has old CJ Springs in it 9 Leaf pack little on the stiff side, I can't get the Springs to flex.Debating on whether to put in newer Springs or take out some leaves, and how many leaves to remove. Once I get off my lazy ass.

I mean, flex really doesn’t happen on a single axle trailer. But if they won’t give at all and it’s bouncing all over the place, then yeah, I’d do something lol.

Little things. I made the tongue a few inches shorter. I made the blocks for where the leaf springs mount to the frame. I welded the lunette plate flush with the bottom of the tongue.

All of this just to keep the tongue from digging in when the truck starts to climb and the trailer hitch dips. The blocks should keep from having to run a drop hitch as long as you use the same size tires as are on your truck.

I also didn’t bother adding a receiver hitch to the rear of the frame. The hitch carrier took too much weight off the tongue, and you certainly couldn’t use one on a trail.

    That’s about it

Alright, I’m switching gears guys. I’m now selling the entire project including the title.

I think I’d be better off trying to sell HD utility trailers. I’m going to go ahead and build a 6x10 full boxed frame trailer for myself with a 5200 lb axle and then see if there’s any interest in those.
