I thought about getting a vizsla before I got my lab. I use my lab for Dove, quail and duck hunting. I don’t think a vizsla is a water dog. Have you used him for hunting.

I haven’t and probably won’t. I enjoy huntin dove and duck but I don’t do it enough to spend time or money training him. But he’s great in the water. But you’re right they weren’t really bred for water. They get water in their ears real bad.

Puppis are also potty trained by like 4 months. I am still afraid when my two year old son falls asleep on the couch.

Thanks. I should have started by saying what a beautiful dog you have. Vizslas are great dogs

I look forward to a time I can change occupations and can actually have a dog. Ideal would be taking about a year off and overlanding with just me and a dog.

I'm jealous that Murph still has that goose. Draco ripped that beer can toy in an hour and destroyed it in 2 days. Indestructable hard toys for him from now on.

Your husky is gorgeous. Makes me miss my two I had as a kid.

I just recently ended up in the position to make my own decision on my hours to a degree, and enabled me a dog. Such a positive change in my life.

I too would love to just roam the countryside with my dog. One day I'll pull that off.

Vizslas are def bird/gundogs, but they are more for upland hunting rather than waterfowl.

Six months ago I was debt free and truck was just about ready for full time overlanding. I ended up saving some money and decided to buy a house and went back into debt because the house was a fixer upper. Now all I think about is as soon as the house is finished, selling it along with everything else I own and doing the whole overlanding. Camper shell living thing. We are too caught up with all the “stuff” when it’s the little things that mean the most, like traveling with a good ole rescue dog! :D

I purposely bought one of the smallest houses I looked at. You're right. when I moved into a 1br from a 3br apartment before house hunting, it's amazing the amount of junk you collect just because you have the space. Really been trying to embrace that mindset even though I have the room.

My work schedule got in the way, so I used the funds to buy a house instead, but this is the trip I had planned for this summer.

Yeah, I was gonna roll it to next summer cuz I got promoted at work, but I went and made fun plans for next year so IDK what's gonna happen. May try and sneak down to Baja though. Wanna get down there before work tries to move me back east.

As soon as my plans begin to take shape I’m heading to the PNW! Been out there when I first started sailing. Loved northern Washington and Oregon. Can’t wait to experience it overlanding.

You’re right, he does not look like 97 lbs. He’s tall for a lab and appears to be quite muscular. You keep him in good shape.
