My guess would be that like you mentioned it is all the trucks with the towing package. They have a higher output alternator. Seems weird though because I would think that toyota would have kept them all the same so the same belt, and other parts would work. Are all the xrunner pulleys offset different than the non-xrunner trucks?

So is it safe to assume that the non tow package trucks/x-runners use the same alternator pulley? and then that would leave the tow package trucks with the different offset one?

The pic was from my 4runner but its the same deal on my tacoma and the tacoma has the tow package. I'm not sure 100% if toyota deviated the altenators during the production of the xrunner, I just know back in the day you had to specify if you had a 6 lug truck w/tow package, 6 lug w/o tow package, and xrunner. They stopped doing that after a few years to cut costs im sure.

I mean you can roll the dice and be lucky. I would suggest going with a full set as effectively you get a free pulley combining them vs buying individual. That's what I did and can always get the appropriate alternator for the pulley down the road if it meets my electrical demands.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. So you'd suggest just get the whole set and then later down the road maybe just install a non tow package alternator so that the pulley is compatible? Pretty good idea buddy

Sorry I think I read this wrong initially, long, day. The belts are the same on all 1grs its that the body of the alternator is different. Hence why on the nst alt pulley pictured has a compensation for the depth.

We are going to order the material soon to get the ball rolling, They are really just waiting for me to finalize the tolerances on this bad boy. I need to sit down and go through all the Dims one last time, and create a drawing with tolerances. I think I'll make the Ribs and center bolt/keyway the tightest tolerance (+/- .005") and the rest will be more open (.010"). That should give us plenty of wiggle room and help speed things up.
