Is this suspension modified?

last weekend I bought a 2017 OR Tacoma. It's in great shape but I am starting to feel like some modifications were done that I wasn't aware of. The truck appeared to have the front end higher than the back end. I don't know a ton about Tacomas yet but it appears I might have a lift in the front but not the rear? Please help me figure out what's going on here. If this is the case how easy is it for me to have this removed? Vehicle is for work so I don't really need or want it lifted especially only in the front.

 

That silver puck above your strut is a leveling spacer.

 

What does that generally imply? And why would that be there?

 

It’s meant to lift the front of the vehicle for aesthetics- it levels the truck front to back. Most pickups have a little rake to them where the rear is higher than the front which accommodates any type of load in the bed of the truck.

Why not put a spacer in the back also to lift it a bit and bring it to factory rake?

I don't really have a good reason for not doing it. I don't really have any plans to put new wheel/tire set up on it so I don't need the clearance for that. I live in Florida so I don't exactly need the clearance of a raised truck (not sure if spacers even accomplish that) either

 

I agree. "Leveling" almost always creates a little bit of bro-lean which is horrible looking IMHO

 

you can easily adjust your lights downward while you decide.

 

Sorry for my ignorance. I see the words “Bro Lean” on this forum often. I don’t know what it specifically refers to. I would appreciate clarification. Is the photo that the O.P. Put up which shows the rear low, as if he has used batteries filling the bed what people mean by bro lean??

I think all you need is an add-a-leaf in the back. Cheap and it will look great IMHO

I think you likely have a lift AND spacer on the front. I don't think a spacer in back will do anything.

 

Bro-lean refers to the front being higher than the rear. People "level" the front to supposedly make it equal with the rear. They're almost always in denial, because it always looks higher in the front than the rear.

 

It'll cost you more to have that removed at a shop than what that spacer is worth! You might also need to get an new alignment as well!

If you have the money and dont like it have it removed.
If you're planning on doing any sort of suspension modifications to the truck I would do more research before even touching it further.

I emailed the dealership I bought it at and expressed my dissatisfaction with the spacers being in there and asked if they'd remove them for me. I told the guy I would have requested they remove them before u purchased it had they let me know it was done. We shall see what he says. But I don't want to spend the money so hopefully he can get it done. It's a large reputable dealership here so I don't see why they won't
