How do you like the 4.88s with the 2.7 and 255s? Do you wish you had gone with 4.56s instead?

Love the gear/tire combo, 80 on the freeway is no problem now. 4.56's would have robbed power I think. Next set of tires will be a tad bigger so I'll have to see if 5.29's are in my future.

Picked up some rusty FJ 17" steelies for a steal of a deal. Cleaned them up and tried out a different color than black this go around.

Looks great! Which paint did you use? it looks similar to the Duplicolor I used on my wheels recently.

Came out awesome! What are the specs on those wheels? Did you need to use wheel spacers to clear UCA or frame?

Thanks, the wheels are 17x7.5" with a 5" backspace. No spacers and will rub the frame at full lock but only when turning left for some reason. I've got an alignment scheduled for tomorrow, maybe that will fix it.

    Looks so freaking good!

I just retired my 255s and replaced them with a set of 34x10.5. I've always been happy with my 5.29 gears, but I'm especially thankful for them now. Are the 4.88s still sufficient for you with the heavier/slightly taller tire?

Thanks, so far the 4.88's seem fine but I'll have a better idea after I take her offroad. Maybe swap in 5.29's down the road.
