Ahh I gotcha! Yeah, bang for buck, they are great. Over the years I’ve had pretty much every brand and I find myself swaying back into Abu and Pflueger often. Not sure why. Love my Daiwa Tatula series reel though.... incredible machine.

If you're planning on putting a larger 6.0 or 6.5 HP motor in it, I think you may want to consider the older style doodle bugs. I'm not sure if the larger motor will fit in the frame that you posted...

Not to go too far off topic of the CL finds thread, but I was out your way a couple weeks ago and managed to get some fishing in along 395 and had a blast. Beautiful scenery and quite the abundance of fish caught. Will be back eventually.

Very cool! I’m building a mini bike with a side car for the wife. Just received a new 72 tooth sprocket, 11 tooth clutch and chain in the mail today. I’m looking for maximum torque on this 3 hp monster! :D

Nice. Are saying a side car for her while you drive? That's gonna be rough. Not sure you can achieve the torque needed to move 2 adults out of that motor. Might want to consider getting the Harbor Freight motor instead of putting too much money into the 3.0 unless I misunderstood you...let's see a picture.

You have it right. I’ll be driving with the wife in the side car. I got the mini bike running this summer and rides great. It’s not a big torque monster, so I’m going to try the lower gear. I’m going to try it with the 3 hp and if it doesn’t have enough power, I will get a bigger engine. Your probably right, 3 hp is pretty wimpy. We are going to use it to cruise around camp grounds when we camp, so not worried about speed. 5-10 mph is plenty. Harbor freight have decent 5-6 hp engines?

Ya, harbor freight has the 6.5 hp that really moves. Where the problem lies, is you will then have to buy another new clutch since the output shafts are different sizes. Good luck though man, if you need any help just let me know.

I guess another thing you could consider is a torque converter. But that probably cost as much as a new motor... if I remember correctly I think I purchased a lot of my aftermarket parts from hotrodminibikes.com, or oldschoolminibikes.com or something like that...
