Well you owe those of us that have a beer, because i'm pretty sure we all have some degree of brain damage as a result :boom:

In all reality, it i've only kept up with this thread because I happened to purchase one of the first kits Mat had released. Naturally, I followed the thread. Having a job where I sit at my desk crunching numbers all day requires some mandatory TW breaks as well.

Indeed it has. The product has evolved into much more than was ever promised and well exceeded my expectations. Happy customer. Now I'm about ready for forced induction :burnrubber:

Once I get the tune I will run it until warranty is up and then consider FI. But I'm not sure the Sport rear diff can take it?

Are you running 91 or 87? I'm running the 91 (04B31) and had a similar reaction. It's a great tune but I think I just got used to those after-burner takeoffs and ease of passing with 19700. Damn thing was a rocket ship.
Only 85 miles and did not reset LV or AT. Gonna give it some time to reset my own learned values. Nice smooth power and predictable shifting. Just need to push the skinny pedal a bit more. Haven't tried 4 Low but I bet it's vastly improved.
    Thanks Mat.

Im on 91. Im glad someone can relate to what i was feeling. I love the surge of power on ect. You mean to say 19770 will be more thrusty? Cuz i got both but tuned with 19800

I was the same way when I was younger. Blew out a few ring and pinion sets in my day. The off road should handle 400 or more if you don't launch it all the time. Getting closer to retirement myself. Since I live alone and both houses will be paid off my biggest expense will be the maintenance on 4 maybe 5 older vehicles. Lol

The 8" "toyota V6" diff is fairly strong as it is. with that said, you can tear up any diff with enough abuse. If you're going to blow one, the other is likely not far behind. A Ford 9" or 8.8" swap is inexpensive and much stronger than the Toyota diffs will ever be. If it ever came to needing a replacement, that is.

Unfortunately, you're probably right.. but in reality, this is a truck forum - not the financial advice forum. I'm sure there are plenty of us that are well on our way to, or in retirement and $6k is the least of our worries in life. This is coming from a guy who is a huge advocate of saving and planning for the future, so I can relate - but again, truck forum.

Curious to hear what tune ya'll with 5.29's are running and how it is? I still have the 1.05 tune on my 5.29's.

Ok...thx..I see the Toyota flash manager and the p5flash.. Now could someone point me to where I can find help on which tunes to download.

I see the following choices for both 0A60-at and 04A61-at... 2018 Tacoma no dongle
    1. Stock
    2. 1.05
    3. 1.05.1
    4. 2.o.x.erom

    The base/performance & gearlock

    I understand the 87,91 and 93 octane.

start with 1.05 base 87 (unless you run 91/93 then do that one).

Not sure what the stock is..I assume it's so I can put it back to the factory stock tune if desired...

You haven't tried 19770? I suggest you check it out to know what I'm saying. Aggressive tip in. Very nice but not for off road. Too touchy in 4lo.

19800 with about 40 miles so far and love it. Tip in, in my opinion is right on point. Noticed a 1.5 mpg increase on my regular commute. Keep up the good work ovtune and Matt!

Will be reporting a more detailed opinion via zendesk and this thread once the tune has fully settled.

04A61 19800, reset LV and AT and 40 miles in so far.

I like the 'tip in' much better than 19770. The 3 - 4 shift is quicker than 19770 (still don't dig that very much), but I think more time on the tune is needed. I also like that you can press the pedal in 4th, at low RPM quite a bit and it doesn't downshift. Instead it provides power (torque) to get you up to speed.

Need more time on tune and then I'll post to zendesk.

Why did you go without cats? Seems like in the thread he recommends purchasing with. Did you get dump tubes without cats as well?

Sorry it may be better for me to just PM you, that’s the setup I was looking st but don’t really understand the different between without or with cats
