Anyone run 285 70 r 17 with this wheel on a 2nd gen without a CMC? Does the 8in wide and 0 offset help with avoiding the CMC at all?

I have these wheels and run 265 70 r 17 right now with 5100's and 885 springs no rubbing. Would like to make the jump and was wondering if the offset would help me with avoiding the cmc.

For those of you who dont know Dustin at FN makes these for Tundras in a 18x9" +25mm offset 5x150. I picked up a set for my Tundra today. He went out of his way to meet up with me on a Saturday. He's very knowledgeable and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set of wheels from him in the future. For those of you on the fence on choosing wheels, this is your guy/company to purchase from. Give him a ring or shoot him an email. You won't regret it. Thank you just wanted to share my experience.

Good to know. Looking at buying a Tundra in the very near future and wheels are on the short list of things that will get put on first. Can you post pics when you get them mounted? Curious what that offset looks like on a Tundra.

I'm so stoked on these. I'll be taking them in this week to get them mounted. I'll definitely post pictures. And I'll be starting a new thread on tundras.com as well.

I love these wheels but think some center caps that weren't flat would look better.

Does anyone know what size the center caps are?

Or better yet know of any good looking replacement ones?

    Hi TacomaWorld,

It's been quite a while since I've had a chance to post here, but I wanted to write this post to thank all of our customers and those who have supported FN Wheels. I've also read a few of the posts that were concerned about our absence or difficulty in reaching us, and while I know that we've shipped a few thousand wheels since that time, I didn't want to leave those concerns unanswered.

I've been in the wheel business for nearly 20 years now. Times have changed quite a bit since I started in this business, although I was involved very early on with Internet forums. I understand that we now live in a day and age of instant gratification. To those of you expecting a quicker reply, and to those who weren't happy with our explanation for our absence over the summer, I apologize. We made the difficult decision over the summer to suspend orders for a period of approximately 30 days to facilitate our move and to take care of family illness and death (we are a family run business). Rather than accept orders and have a period of delay, we did not take any orders from any customer during this period of time. While I sympathize with the concerns of the vocal few who were speculated on the reason for our absence, or who said they'd have done things differently, I firmly believe that the best decision we could make was to not take orders that we couldn't fulfill timely. I can deal with the comments on this forum and other forums about difficulty reaching us. That is something we can easily explain. It would not have been in line with our ethics and standards for customer service to take orders that we couldn't fulfill in a timely manner, so we simply did not take any orders until all issues were resolved. I hope this explanation satisfies those of you who are or were concerned. It is the only explanation I can provide because it is the truth.

    Regarding response times :

This is something that's been a topic for discussion here for quite sometime (I have read all of the posts). I would like to address this, and I also know that some of our competitors post on this forum, so if they'd like to enter this discussion I'd love to debate it with them as well.

When we receive a phone call, text message or email, my number one priority is to respond thoroughly, accurately, and honestly. We do not prioritize speed or brevity. We do not respond in slang, acronyms, or with misinformation. I have ready many screen shots of my competitors' replies to customers, and frankly, as an industry veteran, I'm disappointed that companies are responding to customers like this. I have received forwarded emails from customers who wanted to show me the replies they received from other wheel companies. Many times these emails are riddled with misinformation. Almost always I see what I perceive to be bad customer service. While the time stamp on the reply might be very quick, what good is it if the information is incorrect?

Many of our competitors do not provide a phone number or address at all. That is very concerning to me. How do you reach them if there is a serious problem? To those who were concerned about our response times, please see how quick their response times are when you have a problem. This is well documented on this and other forums. I have the screen shots.

Anyone who has met me or spoke with me on the phone can attest to that fact that I never rush a conversation. I tell my customers that while I may be hard to reach, that is likely because I am taking my time with another customer. Once you have me I give you my undivided attention. I have the phone records (and I'm sure I can have customer's post testimonials) for 45 minute at a time phone calls, sometimes multiple times with the same customer, while we go over all the different fitments of our wheels. I answer questions ranging from suspension clearance for custom setups (different control arm clearance requirements, body mount clearance, shock reservoir clearance, etc.), different tire choices (whether they're M+S, snow flake, if the diameter runs a little large, if the sidewall is more aggressive, etc.), color choices and combinations of our wheels, center cap options, and whatever else the customer can think of asking. I answer all of the questions to the best of my professional ability, even though I don't sell tires, suspension, bumpers or any other type of accessory.

Sometimes we email photos back and forth while talking on the phone in real time to figure out what the customer wants. Sometimes I do this in person by propping multiple wheels up next to the vehicle. Other times I've even provide technical assistance for wheels we don't sell just to help the customer and the enthusiast community. Heck, I've even talked to customers on Facetime so that they can see the wheels in different lighting and at all different angles.

I have FAQ sheets and emails with all of this information that customers want to talk about. Most of the technical data is also well documented on the Internet. I may suggest that the customer looks a little more online, but if they want to talk to me and have an old fashioned human interaction I still want to provide my customer that interaction. Sometimes the human element gets lost in an e-mail or a forum post. We could drastically speed up e-mail, facebook, and forum response times by removing our phone number and not providing a physical address (my competitors have already done that). We choose not to do that, so that we can still provide our customers with the option for real life interaction - either in person or over the phone with a live person who knows what they're talking about. It might be old fashioned, but I think there's still a real value to being able to speak with someone face to face or over the phone instead of always thru a computer screen.

I don't want to take this FX Pro post too much further off-topic, but if anyone has any concerns that have been left unaddressed please feel free to contact me directly anytime:

The FX Pro only accepts a flat center cap. We chose the flat cap design to give the wheel a deeper look and accentuate the concave spoke design. The flat cap is also more durable than a raised, hollow cap.

We do have another cap option that is raised, and we can drill the wheels to accept the raised cap, but we feel that the flat cap is the best option for this wheel. If you wanted us to do a custom set for you with a raised cap please send me an email to: FNWheels@gmail.com and I can show you what it would look like.

We do also have emblems for our flat caps, in the event that you'd just like to break up the center a little bit but still use a flat cap.

I have had one of those lengthy conversations with Dustin @JdMeF9SiR2 in which he addressed all my concerns, he even offered to bring some lug nuts home for me to pickup as it was close to my house. Some of the best customer service I have seen from any company. I would highly recommend them! Never thought an explanation was necessary, but good to see you on the thread!

I bought some FN FX Pro wheels from Dustin back in February of 2018 and had nothing but great customer service during the whole process. There was never a time he didn't answer my text messages in a timely manner. Great company. Great wheel. Great customer service. Highly recommend.

I miss those wheels more than the truck. Those were nice rims and the communication with Dustin was great.

I bought my FN TRD pro wheels spring of 18 from Dustin. They are holding up great and still look new. Dustin was great to deal with and answered all my questions without any hesitation. Would definitely recommend him and his productC5C8B322-8304-4375-8A28-2A9F3208D291.jpg

I'm afraid that is a correct statement. I have the FN Pro wheels with 265/70r17 Duratracs and a 1" leveling kit. It appears that there's enough clearance to clear the UCA with some 285s but I'm afraid to pull the trigger on some new tires. I've searched for days to see what my exact setup would be like and I can't find it here. I guess I'll just stick with my 265s until I get a lift. :notsure:
