I don’t think anybody is going up there tomorrow. I asked and nobody responded.

yeah sorry this thread started with the intent of it being a monthly meet up but I think a lot of us that started that have had some stuff come up lately that's been eating into our wheeling time.

Got a baby on the way, a truck that needs a few repairs to be offroad worthy again, and the holidays fast approaching (all three of those = $$$$$ lol) so I've been laying low as of late.

Hoping sometime in Oct I can do at least one run

White Mountain is a fun trail, can be really easy or really challenging depending on the lines/sections you take. It's even more fun in the winter time when there's snow, as long as it's not iced over...right @DarthPow lol

Guess who went to replace the CV again last night, installed the new one only to find out it was missing the dust cap on the end that covers the outer part of the wheel bearing...and then had to buy another one at AutoZone at 930pm and do it all over again....this guy

My CV curse continues to haunt me

Did the one you bought just have a missing dust cap? I feel like if it was missing when you bought it, you should be able to just swap it out instead of buying a new one...

unfortunately the dust shield is a part of the end of the axle, doesn't come off (dust shield on the end that goes into the diff does, however...but is not interchangeable with the other end).

At least not on these crappy parts store axles, might be different on OEM ones, I'm not sure. I tried hammering it off the old axle but it wouldn't budge and just got all beat up.

So you had to buy a whole new axle or you just had to buy the dust cap?
I luckily havent had to replace a CV yet but I know it is almost inevitable, just trying to learn and not make the same mistake lol

Whole new axle, but I just got a AutoZone one so it wasn't that expensive ($70ish). Plan is to get OEM remans eventually but with all the stuff we have going on right now I'm going to wait a bit on getting those.
