I had the same issue with Napa CVs, it's the c clip. Swapped am OEM clip and they install easy.

huh, good to know...I'll have to save that C-clip off my broken O'Reilly's axle then because that one just popped right in by hand, was the easiest I've ever had one go in.

Good luck! Just left CO because of the rediculous housing market.

Old Brett removed his and built a nice platform. Idk what his handle is anyone to tag him..

I've had to tap them off and put them on other axles before. Not a big deal.

    How?

But does it bind at full droop?

I'll say otherwise :boink: Only broke one CV with the Aussie locker and it was the toothpick manual hub axle so does that really count? I'm guessing lots of skinny pedal was involved?

That I don't hold out much hope for, lol. Although I've had an FEQ brand axle on the passenger side for over a year now and many wheeling trips and it's held up great. The Duralast one doesn't look quite as beefy though (narrower on the ends) so we'll see.

These are really just to get me through this part of the year until I get the OEM remans next. Holidays + baby on the way means I'm going to wait a bit on getting those. Don't plan on doing any hard wheeling anytime soon. Just didn't want to be driving around with a blown boot like I was

I don't think manual hubs on these trucks are ever a better thing if you offroad. They're week and expensive to fix when an axle breaks compared to ADD.

Just got divorced last year and living in one of my rentals. I cant even sell this place and buy a new one because of new home pricing. Was just looking at a place yesterday for 300k and it was pretty basic. While alot bigger than my current place I just cant justify selling an income property to put myself in debt so hanging on to see what the new year brings.

In the meantime I'm upgrading the taco instead of saving for a new place...priorities right?

Only reason it happened right now is I scratched off a $500 winning lottery ticket. lol

Otherwise I would have waited till next month's bonus check.

Hella cool guys to deal with. Pretty quick turn around time (currently). And I'd say they are the strongest skids for 1st gen out there.

the slugs coming along nicely, this was well-needed lol. I managed to break my rear diff bolt loose with pb blaster and changed the rear diff fluid as well. Not sure what color it should be, but mine was dark sludge green n smelled like sulfur

I'll post up some pictures. And, after hunting season I should get back in the swing of doing Mod Days at my place. Maybe you'll get a chance to stop by on one.

At 1/4 inch plate, I'm not sure how much reinforcement they even need, lol.

How much does the skid weigh? 1/4" sounds beefy as hell and super protective but man that's gotta be one heavy chunk of steel, lol

I think my 3/16" Budbilt is around 55 or 60lbs, not too bad but I still have to use a floor jack to get it mounted up. Tried doing it while holding it lying on my back once and that was a one time ordeal.

I got the IFS skid and the trans skid, and I'm pretty sure I read the combined shipping weight was 95 pounds.

oh that's not too bad for a combined weight, probably puts the IFS skid around 65ish pounds I imagine

Oh wait you said trans skid, I was thinking IFS and t-case...that is pretty light for a trans + IFS, my trans skid is even heavier than my IFS one, but probably just depends on it's overall dimensions

yeah it's not so much the weight as it is the bulkiness, and trying to get the front/rear lined up while putting in bolts. I'm surprised I was able to do it that way once but I always bring out the floor jack for it now. Much faster and less painful

Lots of dust and custom dents, Check Build
You'll bend a 1/4" skid too, especially if it's poorly designed.

    Not worth the weight, IMO.
